Every mission has a price.
He never meant for her to pay it.

Aiden has never left anyone behind. Not a comrade and certainly not an innocent. But when an undercover mission goes wrong, he's forced to abandon a woman trapped in a human trafficking ring.

Violet learned brutally that no one is promised a happy ending. She knows Aiden blames himself for his part, but she refuses to let her abduction define the rest of her life.

She won’t be a victim again. And she’s going after what she wants: Aiden.

Watching Violet transform herself into a fierce warrior is the sexiest thing Aiden has ever seen. The honorable plan would be to stay away from her—let her heal and grow without the shadow of his mistakes clouding her progress—even though every instinct tells him to claim her for his own.

But when they discover the danger they thought they’d left behind is closer than ever, they’ll have to confront their fears and fight side-by-side in order to survive.

"You and me together. Every breath. Always.”

Overview:
Aiden (33) & Violet(22). Told from dual POV. Part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. It has a HEA.

The Characters:
Aiden (aka Shamrock) is an ex Special Forces guy who earned his Call Sign by never getting shot, stabbed or blown up. He’s working undercover to try to bring down a traitor and he unexpectedly stumbles upon Violet (aka Firefly), who he quickly figures out is being held against her will. From the first meeting, these two definitely had a connection.
"He pulled her face against his chest, cutting off the noise. She should be appalled, should pull away. But all her brain could seem to process was the soft warmth of his black T-shirt against her face. It was the gentlest thing she’d felt in days."

Aiden is strong and sexy, loyal and protective. Everything a good alpha male should be. Violet really grows in this book and she attributes it to her kidnapping. She stops being a doormat around her brother (she calls herself passive) and she grows a spine and starts standing up for herself and pursing things she is passionate about. It was great to see her become strong and confident. ”Up until her kidnapping, Violet had been pretty passive. Always going along with what others thought was “best” for her and putting aside her own desires and ambitions. She didn’t want to cause waves. But, after the kidnapping, she finally found her strength and decided she needed to embrace life and follow her own path.”

This book includes a large cast of secondary characters from previous books in this series. I thought the author did a good job of gradually folding them into the story so that the reader wasn’t just bombarded and overwhelmed with lots of new people.

The Story:
The book starts out with Violet’s abduction and has an element of suspense throughout. Who kidnapped Violet and why? The pieces to the puzzle unfold and the reader is given some clues along the way. I’m a really good detective, so I did figure out who was behind the plot and why. But still, the author threw in a good twist that I didn’t see coming.

The chemistry between Aiden and Violet is really good and they have some steamy bedroom scenes. For the most part, they have a really good relationship and it was nice to see them grow as a couple (except for Aiden being a bonehead a couple times). Aiden is a rock for Violet and he shows her that he’s willing to stand beside her and support her and her choices.

This book sets up the next story between Violet’s brother Gabe and Jordan. The town treats Jordan with disdain and contempt and my heart really went out to her. There are some definite sparks flying between these two.

3 things I liked
- I liked the method of disassociation Violet used during her abduction (her recipes made me hungry 😋).
- I liked Violet’s growth and how she used her abduction to embrace life and pursue her passion.
- I liked how Violet literally kicked ass. Broke his nose....you go girl!! 👊

3 things I didn’t like
- The ending felt a bit rushed to me.
- I didn’t like that Aiden made a decision for them as a couple without discussing with Violet. It felt like unnecessary, contrived drama.
- 🤔🤔🤔 hmmm. I can’t think of a 3rd thing 😉

Overall
Even though this is the first book I've read in the series (it's book 3, I think) I had no problem understanding the players in the story. The author did a good job of establishing the main characters first and then layering in the secondary characters so that they added depth. The story grips you from the start and pulls you along pretty well. It’s got a good pace and there was enough going on that I never felt bored. The interaction between Gabe and Jordan was a good teaser for the next book. Also, the secondary characters were portrayed in a way that showed good strong heroines and I’m intrigued enough to maybe go back and read their stories too. The story starts out a little dark, but then turns into a much lighter read. There is no cheating and no OW/OM drama. It does not end with a cliffhanger.

Overall, I felt this was a good story and I’m looking forward to reading Gabe and Jordan’s story in the next book.

Quotes
“Aiden, will you take me home? I really want hard and dirty sex with you.”

"In my experience, I’ve found drunk people, children, and leggings always tell the truth.”

“Some things are just with you forever. They become a part of your new normal.”

"We stand by each other’s sides. And we’re stronger because of it.”

"You know we called you Shamrock because you’d never been shot, stabbed, or blown up,” Finn said. “If you didn’t want that name anymore, you could’ve just told us. You didn’t have to go and have all three done to you in one day.”

Aiden first meets Violet while he’s undercover and in no real position to offer the aid she obviously, and desperately, needs to escape her kidnappers. The next time he sees her, Aiden acknowledges it may be his last chance to rescue Violet from a dangerous situation, so with the help of Violet’s Navy Seal brother Gabriel, and Aiden’s friends from Linear Tactical, he just might succeed.

Aiden and Violet’s romance was May/December styled, but sometimes the best things come when least expected! And as weird as it sounds, I didn’t really see these two as separate. They worked beautifully together and completed the other half of the same coin. Both characters had strengths and weaknesses, but I found it appealing how they both learned to meet in the middle without consciously realizing it.

Also, the secondary cast is just as solid as previous books! The guys at Linear Tactical give as good as they get, while their women step up to the plate and dish out their own form of loyally and support. It was nice to see the strong friendships rather than that one person going lone ranger, trying to tackle everything on their own. Especially for Jordan. I am soooo hoping she opens up and also gets a huge HEA/HFN after the suffering she’s put up with from the townsfolk!

Aiden and Violet’s book was intensely gripping from beginning to end! Their story started out dark and heavy, but gradually lightened up as the course of events played itself out. I’m also on pins and needles waiting to see what’s brewing between Gabriel and Jordan. Talk about fireworks...!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Nooooooooo! At 71% I was literally thinking how awesome, perhaps too awesome, the H was being and now, now...he's going to be stupid with a capital S.

Yep, he's an idiot. Another man making the big, bad grownup decisions for the little lady. Has Janie Crouch been talking to Diana Palmer?

Final:

Hero and heroine are very sweet and low angst. Heroine puts her foot down that self-sacrificing are not called for. Most of the angst comes from outside sources.

Trigger warning: Heroine is abused by her captors. No rape, but physical abuse.

DNF @60% Starts off strong, fast, and tense. FMC has been abducted. MMC is undercover and helps her escape. Once that action part of over, this turns into watching paint dry. It’s like an Andy Griffith episode with “hard and dirty” sex that’s not so hard and dirty. The romance just didn’t do it for me - too stiff, scripted, and boring. Way too much time spent on mundane shit and side characters to ever get invested through the boring shit. When I start skimming and thinking of laundry, dishwasher, and scrubbing my toilets while MCs are getting it on … I know a book is just too freaking boring to continue.

During an undercover mission, Aiden Teague is forced to leave a young woman who is the apparent victim of human traffickers. In the aftermath of her abduction and rescue, Violet Collingwood is determined to never be a victim again. As part of her journey, she sets her sights on Aiden, and has no intention of accepting no for an answer.

Violet is a strong and resilient heroine whose desire to transform her trauma into something positive for her future is very admirable. Aiden is a sexy and honorable hero, but his tendency to think that he knows what is best for Violet is arrogant and condescending. Thankfully, she teaches him the error of his ways, and their romance is quite sweet although not as intense as those of the first two couples.

The suspense plot involving human trafficking is disturbing and there are several triggering scenes although Crouch successfully avoids the appalling that so many authors mistakenly view as empowering. The villains are suitably menacing, but the identity of the mastermind is obvious from the start.

In sum, this is a well-written book with a good balance between romance and action. The next installment focuses on Jordan Reiss, the town outcast, and Violet's brother, Gabriel. Their acerbic interactions here suggest that their story will be quite stormy.

Just when you think this series can't get any better, along comes Shamrock. Aiden Teague is my favourite of the Linear Tactical heroes so far - he's loyal, protective and caring. An ex-Green Beret who speaks six languages fluently, he's undercover as an arms dealer, trying to catch a traitor, when he notices something different about one of the scantily clad women at the club he's in. She looks terrified, and when he spends some time alone with her, he realises she's being held against her will.

He's determined to get her out, even if it means blowing his cover, but something happens and he's not able to get to her in time, which weighs heavily on him. When she's identified as the younger sister of an ex-Navy SEAL he's worked with before, Aiden knows he has to save Violet Collingwood because things are not going to get better for her. He and his team are able to extract her safely, but they still don't know who kidnapped her and why.

After her release, Violet decides it's time she lives her life the way she wants to. She's a trained chemical engineer, working for her family's technology company, but her passion is baking. So she decides to open her own bakery in Oak Creek, and pursue a relationship with Aiden. She makes the first move, which I loved, and it doesn't take long for them to end up in bed together.

Violet sets up her bakery and hires Jordan Reiss, whom we've met in the first two books, as her assistant. Aiden trains her in self defence, and Violet grows stronger in every way possible. She's a wonderful heroine, one who refuses to wallow in the bad that happened to her, instead choosing to take control of her life and go after what she wants.

Aiden starts to wonder if perhaps their age difference of eleven years is too big a gap, and thinks that perhaps Violet would be better off healing on her own, so he ends the relationship, breaking her heart. But she's determined to make him see she can still grow as a person with him by her side, and after Violet and Jordan are injured in an incident, Aiden realises he was wrong to walk away.

When the identity of not only Violet's kidnapper but the mysterious Mr Stellman is finally revealed, it's such a clever plot twist that you won't have seen it coming. This book has enough action and mystery to keep those who love romantic suspense happy, and a hot, steamy romance to make your little romantic heart sing - and if you prefer your romances less steamy, there's a version for you, too!

If this book is any indication of how book four is going to be, we're in for a real treat. Another five star read from this author.

The plot was convoluted and didn't always make sense. The Baddie, Stellman, was a mysterious bogyman into everything from drugs and prostitution to stealing codes for military drones. Just didn't quite track right. The H/h were sweet and it was great to see how Violet came into her own and was able to effect her own escape at the end.

Stellman. unknown, nasty baddie who is behind the drugs and sex trafficking happening around the small town of Oak Creek, Wyoming, has eluded capture and continues to wreck havoc despite the best efforts of the guys at Lineal Tactical to stop him. As Aiden is undercover to gather information, he crosses paths with a woman he knows doesn't belong in that world. Unfortunately, timing is everything and the timing just wasn't right for Aiden to rescue her without blowing his cover.

Violet has no idea why she is trapped in this nightmare. She only knows that Aidan is not like the others and he has given her hope that soon she can escape. One thing she knows is that when she does, she won't be a victim again, ever. 3 1/2-Stars

Aiden was working undercover when he came across Violet iin the strip club he was in. Drawn to her for her looks but also the fear in her eyes. He decides to break his undercover gig but when shit hits the fan, he is forced to leave her behind and that doesnt sit well with him. When he learns that a military friend, Gabe, needs the companies help in finding his sister and the face on the pic is Violet, he is all in.

They will meet again and thankfully she will trust him but in doing so will endore humiliation, pain and more. Recouping, she will still be at big risk as what they think has happened and who was responsible is far from reality and she is still in deep unseen trouble.

Violet, is smart and beautiful and slightly broken after her ordeal. Why she fights to recover, she knows one thing she is drawn to Aiden and that tomorrows arent a given. She will throw herself at him but he turns her down but she thinks its for reasons in her own head and not whey he did so.

Slowly the two will develop a friendship and more and as they takes steps to HEA their are risk about to surface, PTSD, her past coming back to the present and an unseen betrayal. Will she be strong enough to survive it...again. We he be her hero....again. Will she be his?

Really loving this series and this author!

This is the third book in the series and I think the best so far. We have meet Aiden "Shamrock" Teague in the previous books but don't know much about him. This book takes place overlapping time periods with the previous book but from Aiden's POV.

If you aren't hooked by the first chapter on this one, you should just set it aside. The author touches subjects that aren't easy to handle. Through all of the ugly, though, we get to see the incredible character of the man Aiden. And even better, we witness the strength of character in Violet. Aiden recognizes it. And it weighs heavy on his mind that he was not able to get her away the first time they meet.

Linear Tactical does what they do best as part of their covert work. Great amount of suspense in this one. Violet holds strong. It was wonderful to see her come into her own even when those around her want to coddle and protect. Way to go after your dreams, Violet!

Loved seeing the rest of the team again. Really liked all the little clues dropped about possible couples to come. Can't wait to read more!

This was a fantastic, complex story with multiple layers. Romance. Suspense. Friendship. Passion. The beginning of the story overlapped with the end of Eagle, this time showing events from Aiden's point of view. He was undercover in an attempt to bring down a traitor. In the process, he came across what appeared to be a human trafficking operation, and a young woman he called Firefly. Unexpectedly drawn to her, he was prepared to blow his cover to save her, but Fate intervened before he could. Devastated by his failure, he was haunted by his fear of what might happen to her.

I loved Violet. She is smart, practical, and determined. Her abduction came as quite a shock to her, and her fear was believable and intense. As afraid as she was, and mad at herself for it, I thought that she was much stronger than she gave herself credit for. I loved the way that she would mentally escape by working on her recipes. Her instincts were good also, and I liked how she recognized Aiden as a good guy in spite of how it looked. I loved how she tried to remain optimistic after the first encounter with Aiden.

I loved the development of Violet and Aiden's relationship. There was a connection between them from the moment they met. Though she didn't understand why Violet trusted Aiden immediately. He was there in that safe corner of her mind as she dealt with what was happening to her. Aiden's feelings of protectiveness surprised him, and I loved how that protectiveness showed itself during the rescue mission. And when it was all over, Aiden forced himself to step away, giving her a chance to recover without seeing him as a reminder of what happened to her. Meanwhile, Violet used her realization that nobody is guaranteed a tomorrow to pursue her passion for baking. She left her chemical engineering studies and work for the family company to start her own bakery, and put into action her plan to pursue Aiden. That encounter was fantastic and heartbreaking. I loved Violet's courage in going after him, and her pain at what seemed to be his rejection. I loved Aiden's total shock, and how it caused his complete bungling of the situation. I laughed out loud at the way their friends got them together. The bar scene was hilarious with Violet's drunk ramblings and Aiden's desperate attempts to be a gentleman. It was also the push they needed. I adored seeing them grow closer over the next two months, not just physically but also emotionally. There were still some bumps, caused by Aiden's honorable nature and the danger that still stalked her. I loved seeing Aiden come to his senses. It was their love for and belief in each other that got them through the danger to their happy ending.

The suspense of the story sucked me in from the beginning and kept me hooked to the end. I was already invested from the first page because of the overlap with the end of the previous book, except that now there is more detail. I was immediately curious as to why Violet was treated differently than the other captive women. Her fear and despair leapt off the page as she tried to cope with the actions forced on her. Once I was past the overlapping section, I was on the edge of my seat as I waited to see how Aiden and the others would pull off her rescue. The intensity was incredible, from the confrontation over Aiden's coat to the men's fears over reaching her quickly. The rescue wasn't the end of it, as the ringleader of both the arms dealing and the trafficking was still at large. Even after his capture, there were still feelings that it had been too "convenient," feelings that were borne out when Violet was attacked again. At that point, I began to suspect that the danger was a little closer than anyone suspected. The final confrontation was full of twists and turns, including one that I didn't see coming. I loved how Violet's work with Aiden and Gavin paid off, giving her the confidence and tools she needed for a truly satisfying resolution.

Besides the obvious physical passion between Aiden and Violet, there was also her passion for baking. I loved how that passion helped her survive her captivity by giving her mind a safe place to go. It was also great to see her channel that passion into convincing her brother that she hadn't gone off the deep end in reaction to what happened to her. I especially enjoyed the baking scenes with Violet and Jordan.

Friendship was another big theme. I loved how the ladies of Linear Tactical made Violet part of their group so quickly. It started with simple support after her rescue but quickly evolved into true friendship. I laughed out loud at their "help" in getting Violet and Aiden together. The bar scene, with the Electric Smurfs drinks, was inspired. I also liked the friendship that grew between Violet and Jordan after Violet hired her to work at the bakery. Violet's support of Jordan was great, and I loved seeing Violet stand up to her brother because of it. I also like the close friendships among the guys. They always have each other's backs, both professionally and personally. It's fun to see how that personal support often takes the form of intense teasing.

There were also some very interesting scenes between Jordan and Gabe. He came across as very judgmental and obnoxious in their first encounters, but it was also clear that there were other sparks flying between them. That became especially obvious in the hospital scene. I loved his protective fury when he realized what was happening. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these two in the next book.

Aiden Teague lives by one motto “You never leave a fallen comrade behind.” When he first sees a woman with red hair being held against her will during an undercover operation, Aiden vows to get her out alive before any more harm comes to her. He is devastated when things don’t go according to plan and Aiden is forced to leave her, but he makes it his personal mission to see her home safely at all costs and with a little help from his friends at Linear Tactical he does just that.

Violet Collingwood has been taken against her will and is being held captive by human traffickers. She is forced to do things no woman should ever have to do. She compartmentalizes and that is the only thing keeping Violet from losing her mind. When she meets Aiden, he offers her comfort and promises to get her out safely. Violet has been tortured, abused and locked in a cage, but through it all she is a strong woman who survives.

Janie Crouch has done it again. She has published another great book in the Linear Tactical series that is gripping, emotional and full of suspense. Crouch never disappoints and keeps her stories fresh and addicting. I don’t think I have ever loved characters in a series as much as I love the men from Linear Tactical and the women they have come to love. I love that we get to revisit the characters from the first two books and how all the women have become instant friends. They feel like family and I look forward to their brief appearances in each new installment. I can’t get enough of this series!

Aiden is such a sweet guy. He really falls hard for Violet even though she is eleven years younger than him. He treats her with kindness and respect with all that she has been through. He genuinely wants what is best for Violet and helps her heal and in the process they fall in love. The romance is very, very steamy and explosive. Aiden treats Violet as a woman, not a victim and never lets her forget how strong she is. Aiden is so proud of Violet when she takes life by the horns and learns how to defend herself against any situation. But in the process, Aiden does not want to hold her back from life which makes for some tense scenes between the two.

Violet is a fighter and what she wants is Aiden and she is not ashamed to tell him how she feels. Violet is so strong and independent and just because she was kidnapped, it does not make her a victim. She shows time and time again that she is much more than someone young and helpless. She is not fearful of Aiden in the slightest even after everything she went through. Does she have some lasting effects? Yes. She suffers from PTSD and some of those scenes were very painful and emotional to read. But, Violet is made of strong stuff and she works through her issues with the help of a therapist and Aiden and she will not stop at getting what she wants out of life.

This story can be read as a standalone, but I would probably suggest starting fresh from the first book in the series. Shamrock does have a continuation from the story from book two and you may be a little lost as to what is going on if you do not know the backstory, plus there are references to what the other couples in the series have gone through in past books and take it from me, you do not want to miss all of the other wonderful and heartfelt characters in the Linear Tactical series. Janie Crouch has a knack for balancing romance with suspense and I never felt either one was lacking.

I highly highly recommend Shamrock for readers who love their romance sprinkled with an intensely written suspense that will grip you right from the beginning. The Tactical Linear series have all been five star reads for me and at this point I don’t think Janie Crouch can produce anything less than a five star read. I am so looking forward to the next book in the series featuring Violet’s brother Gabe and Jordan Reis who makes an appearance in the first two books. Don’t wait grab this series today. You can thank me later!

Shamrock is the third book in the Linear Tactical family and it is an emotional ride that will tug at your heart. As with the previous two books, the whole gang makes appearances throughout the story but this one mainly focuses on Aiden, call sign Shamrock, and Violet. Their story is gripping and chilling from the first page as Violet finds herself in a terrifying situation with a very grim outlook. You can feel the despair, sadness, anxiety, and fear rolling off of her in waves as she tries to navigate through her captivity and fight to survive and a spark of hope when she meets a white knight with a dangerous aura and gentle touch. Will she ever be free of her nightmare? She knows she will never be the same but will this experience strengthen her and give her a new purpose or will it break her forever?

Aiden is undercover in the middle of the chaos left over from the previous book, Eagle, where he helped Finn and the other save Finn’s lady love, Charlie. Now immersed in another world full of constant danger and drugs, guns, and human trafficking, among other things, he is horrified to find an angel in a pit of vipers. He is drawn to her like no other and wants to offer her help but she is ripped from his grasp before he has the chance. Her abduction haunts him and he feels guilty for her slipping away. When shocking information is revealed and he learns her true identity he vows to do whatever he has to do to bring her home safe regardless of the cost. He will not fail her a second time.

If you enjoyed Cyclone and Eagle you will definitely love Shamrock. The main characters are just as fierce and enjoyable and the story just as intense and riveting. It is well-written and full of drama, danger, suspense, action, family, wit, laughs and romance. You will not be disappointed. Violet is put through a great deal is this story and I loved her resolve and determination, her inner strength is amazing after her ordeal. She took hold of herself and her life and decided to do things her way, doing what she wanted and loved instead of listening to others and following the wrong path for her. I also really enjoyed Aiden. He recognizes and understands what Violet has been through and gives her space with no pressure to find herself and put her life back together. He also has his own struggles he has to come to terms with in order to make way for a future with her. It was fascinating to watch both characters’ growth individually and as a couple. I truly enjoyed Aiden and Violet’s story.

Linear Tactical series is proving to be all I was hoping it to be, and so much more. The stories are emotional, suspenseful, intense, and riveting. And Aiden and Violet's story, Shamrock, while I was getting the idea from Eagle that it is going to be tense and fierce with all the feels, I was not prepared it to just shatter my heart and soul, in the best possible way that a great book can make that happen.
The images Crouch draws to the minds of the readers are so vivid, so real and raw, and the horrors and terror Violet goes through at the beginning of the story, it left me gasping for air. Yes, this can be a trigger to some, so consider yourself to be warned. But the beautiful thing is, the author doesn't leave the heroine there to suffer and wither away when the readers get to witness this amazing, strong, beautiful soul emerge from the ashes, and grow to be a true heroine, a true champion, a person I admired with my whole heart and being. She struggles through the nightmares, through the attacks, through the memories, and through the bubble wrap, her brother wants to put her in, and the through the distance Aidan wants to give her after everything that she has experienced. Her perseverance, her strength, her endurance, it just multiplies as she develops into the strong, beautiful person she was meant to be. Yes, another fabulous strong female lead from Crouch, I swear, she does them better than the most.
Aiden - he is the perfect match to the warrior Violet is. Their minds, souls, and hearts are lined up on the same frequency, and it is a beautiful thing to witness. The age difference between them is brought up several times, but it was hard to see in practice, as they go on with their lives, and develop on the personal front, and grow together as soul mates, and built upon their relationship. And though they are sizzling hot together, burning up the pages, there is more to their relationship than just the hot, physical attraction, as the author proves to the readers.
The team is well presented in the story, as are the mates from Violet's brother's team. It is always a joy to see the characters from the previous books and visit with old friends.
Shamrock is an impressive, potent, and vigorous story filled with harsh, vehement suspense and action that is perfectly balanced and matched by the fervent and ardent love story that is developing between the protagonists. It will pull out all the feels, maybe even more than you were prepared to give, yet it does not leave you hanging as it delivers well in the smoothly flowing, well-written, heartwrenching story. What a ride!

Shamrock is the 3rd book in the Linear Tactical family and it is an emotional rollercoaster ride that will tug at your heartstrings.
For Aiden/ Shamrock, he has never left anyone behind. Not a comrade and certainly not anyone innocent. But when an undercover mission goes fubar, he's forced to abandon and leave behind a woman trapped in a human trafficking ring.
Violet/Firefly has never known such helplessness in her entire life. She had no idea why she was abducted.
During Violet/Firefly's short time as a kidnap victim included being abused, caged, chained and restrained. Violet just retreats into her mind thinking about her recipes and thinking how she can improve them with different ingredients as so to keep herself sane- all these recipes for her new bakery she was supposed to be opening. If she can ever be saved.
Not knowing who Violet/Firefly is, Shamrock finds out a few days later she was the younger sister of Gabe Collingwood, who was a leader in engineering technology. Gabe had played a huge part in saving Finn's girlfriend life some months back. So now Shamrock is doubly determined to save Violet. What goes on the rest of the story is suspense plus passion plus action and romance; family and friends really is highlighted in this book which is awesome. I loved, even when things got raw and gritty, how the main characters were able to find the way to each other, hold on to one another and work thru the pain and tragedy that befell them. The emotions and feels are deep which is why this is a sensational romantic suspense read!!!

This book was beyond fantastic. The third book in the Linear Tactical Series by Ms. Crouch. She has done it again...It has suspense and wonderful characters. When Violet Collingwood meets Aiden Teague it’s not under the best of circumstances. Aiden is undercover, but when he sees something going down he wants to save Violet at all costs, but also has to make sure his cover isn’t blown. It all goes downhill when he can’t find her. What transpires next can’t be taken lightly. He needs to find her. When Violet sees Aiden again she can’t beleive he’s back. What does it mean? Clues he’s given her make her understand he’s back to help her.

See what happens between Aiden aka Shamrock and Violet aka Firefly. A truly moving book and suspense plus passion between these two.

A must read as are the first.

These stories just keep getting better!

Usually, I'm all about the hero when I read romantic suspense, and Aiden/Shamrock certainly delivers. But it was the heroine, Violet, who really spoke to me. I love that her mind was her greatest weapon. It made for a really satisfying payoff at the end.
Not for the faint of heart if you have an aversion to violence, but it was necessary for the heroine's character to grow the way she did.
Yummy love scenes. Love the hints that set up Gabe and Jordan's story in Angel.

Shamrock tackles a fairly dark subject: human trafficking. Violet was kidnapped and held by a group of traffickers. She isn't forced into sex, but she is assaulted and tortured. However, the guys from Linear Tactical save the day. As you can imagine, the story doesn't end there.

Aiden, aka Shamrock, knows Violet needs his help and he isn't going to leave her behind. This is another "insta-love" kind of story because Aiden feels drawn to her immediately. Once he saves her, he wants to be in her life. But, when she offers herself to him, he declines....men. Aiden decided that she was too young and too recently traumatized to be making decisions. I hate heroes who make decisions for the heroines. Violet is smart and tough; Aiden treating her like she can't make her own decisions is just rude. Then, he does it AGAIN later in the story. It was irritating. However, Violet is delightful! She is incredibly bright and hard working. After her trauma, she realizes she doesn't want to be a chemical engineer any more. Her passion is baking and she is going to open her own bakery. The story of Violet's growth and rise from trauma is the captivating part of Shamrock for sure. Aiden isn't a bad hero; I even understand why he did some of the things he did. However, I wished he would have been more thoughtful with some of his actions.

Shamrock is perfect for fans of romantic suspense and those who want to see a heroine rise above her trauma. Violet is a wonderfully written character that will snag the hearts of readers. Also, if you read her Omega Sector series, you will love the little cameo mention!

I fall more in love with the Linear Tactical Series with every book I read. Crouch has a way of mixing mystery, action, and romance while making each story different from the others. Nothing feels recycled, we get a fresh story and great characters.

There were times during this book that were emotional. Violet’s ordeal was difficult and intense. I was so wrapped up in the story that I felt anxious and and as it progressed, hopeful and excited. The relationship between Violet and Aiden was easy to get caught up in as well, the chemistry, the struggle, the passion.

Once again, Crouch holds her cards close to her chest. It’s clear she enjoys shocking her readers and the surprises she delivers do just that.

What an opening!!!! Okay let me back up....

As a reader, when I discover a new author, I feel the need to devour everything they have written. I was fortunate enough to be able to receive advanced copies with the prior books and was again fortunate with receiving Shamrock. Romantic suspense is my jam and the whole Linear Tactical series has fulfilled my need for this trope.

Violet and Aiden were such dynamic characters. I loved Violet’s sense of herself after having dealt with the trauma she endured she was determined to not let it affect her. Aiden was pure bada**!!!! I loved that about him!

I am so fortunate to have found Ms. Crouch’s writing......I will be anxiously awaiting Angel.....

I must have been drunk the first time I read this book and thought it deserved 4 stars. On a re-read it was absolutely awful!

The characters
Our FMC is Mary Sue. Sorry, I mean Violet. A 22 year old woman-child who appears to suffer from multiple personality disorder since her characterisation is all over the place. One minute she's described as a strong and confident woman, then an innocent ingenue, then a sex-pot, then an immature teen-like person, then a someone who is super smart. She survives being kidnapped by sex traders with virtually no psychological side effects, except for when the author apparently remembers that it's kind of weird for her to be so well adjusted so she throws in some kind of flash back panic attack to compensate.

Mary Sue, sorry Violet, is exceptionally intelligent. We know this because it is constantly mentioned. She excelled in Research and Development for her family company when she was a teenager. She is a chemical engineer who is the only one in the world who can work on a special project - despite the fact that she still hasn't finished her degree and is more interested in baking than engineering. Remember, she's 22.

It's lucky that we have this completely unbelievable background and characters to describe her as being so intelligent because she acts like a fucking idiot. Her level of obliviousness is mind numbing.

Mary Sue (Violet) is an amazing baker and able to start and operate a very successful business despite having no experience and no training in that area.

She's 22.

She starts learning self-defence and after only a few months is able to beat men who are bigger, stronger, and have been training for years. Military men.

She's 22.

And of course, everyone loves her for some completely unexplained reason.
The more people got to know Violet, the more they were willing to do whatever she asked, even if that involved playing Drake.

Is it because she makes good petit fours? I seriously have no idea what else it could be.

Our MMC is Aiden, aka Shamrock. He's a buff, hunky, former military man who is part of the Linear Tactical team. He's 33. Speaks multiple languages and is good at undercover. I would write more but that is literally all we know about him. No backstory other than getting the nickname Shamrock because he's never been hurt on a mission. Insert generic military man stereotype here.

Deep.

The Story
She has been kidnapped by bad people. He helps rescue her. She then decides that she wants to sleep with him - not out of hero worship or anything, but because they so clearly bonded during the whole hour they spent together, most of which time they couldn't even talk because she was bugged and he was undercover.

Yes. It's the stuff of romantic dreams.

He hesitates because she was literally just rescued from a sex slavery ring and, oh yeah, she's practically a teenager while he's a grown man.

He quickly gets over it.

They have a lot of sex. It's gross because of the age difference and the fact she acts like an airheaded bimbo half the time.

He feels bad about the age difference and wants to 'let her grow'.

She disagrees.

They break up.

Other stuff happens.

They end up together.

The end.

There was no real story to this. There was some action at the beginning, some action at the end, and a whole lot of nothing in between. No character development. A few sex scenes but because of the whole gross/perv factor I skipped them.

The most interesting part of the book involved Jordan, a side character who was more intriguing and 'real' than the main characters. But her bits were also quite infuriating - she is a woman who is clearly suffering. The Linear tactical guys (including Aiden) are portrayed as these Uber protective men who can't stand to see women suffer, but apparently that only applies to women they're sexually interested in because not one of them does a damn thing to help her.

This book is a definite low point in the series. The most interesting parts involve Jordan and are repeated in the next book so I would recommend giving this one a miss.

This book was amazing! Ah-may-ZING! I wasn't sure what to think about Aiden after learning a few tidbits in the first two books. Shamrock is the third book in the Linear Tactical series, and while reading the first two is beneficial, this book can be read as a standalone. I've enjoyed reading all the books in this series.

Shamrock's plot takes us through a tumultuous journey-the heart-wrenching journey of Violet through some unmeasurable torture and then growth; and Aiden's path to help her and have a relationship with her and solve a military mystery. I didn't take any notes or breathe through the first half of the book until Violet was safe! But you knew there was more problems still to be dealt with.

Aiden's role is both alpha military man, but also a lot showing how a man should act. Careful, deliberate, with unending ability to listen and pay attention to the details. He embodies the song, “Take a Drunk Girl Home” by Chris Jansen, and shows his love by so many of his actions. Even if he has to bide his time, and makes some mistakes. Violet is a bright young woman who has to face a cacophony of tough situations; a childhood loss, human trafficking, betrayal and learning how to be herself and meet familial expectations. She rises to all the occasions with the spirit of a warrior and strength of mind that most people wouldn't be able to. I loved the way the Violet and Aiden's characters dealt with their circumstances; even when they made bad choices, they were ones that were so relatable.

Despite meeting under some of the worst circumstances I've ever read, the Aiden and Violet were made for each other! Aiden saw Violet. And the relationship builds from his saving her. The author quite nicely deals with the doubts both might have and creates a delightful and robust amount of chemistry between the two. They start off rocky, and have some ups and downs, but along the way, they set the sheets on fire.

I didn't stop reading until at least halfway in. I may have also held my breath during most of that as well. Janie Crouch was able to weave a most intricate tale of criminals, law enforcement, military, and innocence. I had such a rush of emotions thanks to Aiden and the wise beyond her years Violet. It was also great to see glimpses of old friends from the first two books.

I loved getting to know Shamrock more. He was short on details as he was introduced in the first two books so I wasn't sure how this would turn out. But once again, the author created a mesmerizing romance mystery. I hope we get to see the conclusion and a happy ending for Jordan soon.

Favorite Quotes:
“In my experience, I've found drunk people, children, and leggings always tell the truth.”
“never trust a skinny cook.”
“For the first time in his life, Aiden cursed the fact that he was Shamrock-the one lucky member of the team.”
“He would do anything to carry this for her, make it better, take away the pain of the memory. But he couldn't.”
“You survived. That's what we teach at Linear. It is the number one rule that has no exceptions.”
“I want you. Even if you are like Off my lawn old!”
“We stand by each other's sides. And we're stronger because of it.”
“He wouldn't fight her battles for her, but he would damn well be by her side as she was facing them.”

This absolutely fantastic series goes from strength to strength!

Shamrock is the third book in the Linear Tactical series and it is an hard hitting and emotional ride that will tug at your heartstrings. This story focuses on Aiden, (call sign Shamrock), and Violet. Their story is utterly gripping and chilling from the very first page as Violet finds herself in a terrifying situation with an outlook that is extremely grim. The feelings of despair, sadness, anxiety, and fear pouring out of her of her is palpable as she tries her hardest to navigate through her captivity and fight to survive. Out of nowhere, there is a spark of hope when she encounters a white knight with a dangerous aura and gentle touch.

Aiden is working undercover in the middle of the chaos left over from the previous book, Eagle, where he helped Finn and the other members of Linear save Finn’s love, Charlie. Now he is fully immersed in another world that is full of constant danger along with drugs, guns and human trafficking, amongst other things. He finds himself horrified to find an obviously terrified young woman in clear need of desperate help. He is drawn to her and wants to help her, but before he can formulate a plan to get her out of there, she is ripped from his grasp before he has the chance. He is haunted by her abduction and he feels immense guilt for her slipping away. When shocking information comes to light and he learns her true identity he vows to do whatever it takes to bring her home safe regardless of the cost. He is determined not fail her a second time.

I thoroughly enjoyed Cyclone and Eagle, but I fell completely in love with Shamrock. The main characters are just as fierce and enjoyable and the story just as intense and riveting. It is amazingly well-written and packed full of drama, danger, suspense, action, wit, laughs and romance. Violet is put through a great deal in this story and I loved her resolve and determination. Her inner strength is extraordinary after her ordeal. She takes control of her life with a steely determination and decides to do things her way, doing what she wants and loves instead of listening to others and following a path that was wrong for her. I also adored Aiden. He recognises and understands what Violet has been through and gives her space with no pressure whatsoever to find herself and put her life back together. His sensitive intuitiveness was remarkable and a joy to behold. He also faces his own struggles and issues which he has to overcome in order to build a future with Violet. It was fascinating to read as both characters grow and flourish individually, and as a couple. I truly enjoyed Aiden and Violet’s story.

Janie Crouch has completely outdone herself with this book and has done herself proud. Her unique gift for continually writing stories that are emotional, captivating and suspenseful is second to none.

I absolutely cannot wait for Gabe and Jordan’s story in the next book in this series, Angel!!

This is the author's third book in her Linear Tactical series.
This series takes it up a notch and boy there is definitely NO disappointments.
The author reels her fans/readers with the emotional thoughts of Violet starting with the first chapter.
Shamrock is Aiden Teague's call sign name given to him by his buddies when he was in the Army Green Berets because according to his buddies he was extremely lucky.
Aiden, normally worked at Linear Tactical that was started four years ago along with several of his military buddies after they got out of the Army.
Linear Tactical was approached by a former Commanding Officer requesting assistance/help to infiltrate a strip club, The Barn, to possibly identify who was the mole/traitor that was selling Top Secret documents, selling weapons, and dealing in human trafficking.
While working undercover for a few weeks Shamrock noticed a new girl on stage. When she turned around he saw terror in her eyes and wanted to help her.
Shamrock was unable to break out of his character, because of hundreds of lives were at stake, he made the decision to wait.
Unfortunately he was thwarted by circumstances and missed the opportunity to help Violet at the strip club.
Violet/Firefly had never known such helplessness in her entire life. She had no idea why she was abducted.
During Violet/Firefly's time being abused, caged, chained and restrained Violet retreats into her mind thinking about her recipes and thinking how she can improve them with different ingredients.
Not knowing who Violet/Firefly, he finds out a few days later she was the younger sister of Gabe Collingwood, who was a leader in engineering technology. Gabe had saved Finn's girlfriend life months before.
The Linear Tactical team was surprised when Gabe told them why Violet was possibly abducted.
I was definitely surprised who the villain was. This was a thought provoking book that touched on human trafficking.
I will never look at a taser in the same way.
This story line is AWESOME and off the charts emotional.
There is steamy romance, intrigue, suspense, alpha heroes, villain's and more.
You will not want to put this book down until the last page.
It was nice for characters from the Omega series mentioned in this series.
I really enjoyed this stand-alone book and I think you will enjoy it too.
This is the third in the series of Linear Tactical and after reading this book check out books one and two of the Linear Tactical you won't be disappointed.

Oh my heart, these books by Janie Crouch pulls so much emotions out of me and Shamrock is no different. I knew from reading all the blurbs and teasers that this one was going to be tough and reading what Violet was going through from the first chapter, it really was. But to read what inner strength she had was awe-inspiring! When Aiden, who was working undercover, saw her for the first time at a strip club knew something was going on, but due to events that were not in his control missed his chance to help her. This was agonizing for him, their motto in the military was to leave no one behind, so when the opportunity came to be able to save her, he was all in.

Their story was definitely emotional, full of heart-stopping suspense, and so much love. After being rescued, Violet was ready to move on with her life. She realizes life is too short to not go after what she wants and one of the things she wants is Aiden. Unfortunately the first reaction from Aiden did not go so well, my heart broke for Violet, but with the help from her new friends and some Electric Smurfs things worked out for her. Because of Violet’s ordeal and the age difference, Aiden thought he was doing the right thing, but the pull of her was too strong. And when they are confronted with danger that they had thought was over, his stance of staying away dissolved quickly.

Like in all the other books I’ve read by Janie Crouch (even though I’m still a newbie), the resolution and downfall of the bad guys was gruesome and awesome. They are both definitely put through the wringer, physically and emotionally but they both pull through stronger together.

I loved this book so much, a highly recommended read. Now I can not wait for Jordan’s story.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Lucky Shamrock has never been injured seriously when on deployment, despite being a part of an elite special forces group that served in hotspots like Afghanistan. Now retired from the military, Aiden uses his military skills to teach others how to survive dangerous situations. He uses his unique innate ability to fit into any situation to infiltrate criminal organizations and help law enforcement bring the bad guys to justice.

On a mission, he realizes that the case he's working on involves not only theft of national secrets, but also drugs, weapons and human trafficking and prostitution. He sees his Firefly from across the room and realizes she's in trouble. Immediately attracted to her, Shamrock will do anything to help her.

Rescuing her from her captors, Aiden begins a steamy affair with Violet as she gets her life together and strives to put her abduction behind her.

What neither of them realizes is that the danger is continuing to draw closer until it surrounds them.

Torn between his love for Firefly and his sense of honor, Shamrock lets her go so that she can develop into the strong and independent woman she is striving for. When the criminals zero in on her, however, it will take both of their skills and strength to survive. Who will save who?

Another winning entry in the Linear Tactical series, readers who enjoy romantic suspense will love this book. The action is fast-paced, the characters are well-developed and the story beyond the romance is well-written with some complexity in the mystery storyline. Violet is a young woman that develops from a shy engineer into a self-possessed, independent character. Aiden is tender and loving, while supportive and self-confident. A pleasure to watch their relationship evolve.

I highly recommend this next installment in the Linear Tactical series.

This is a voluntary review of an ARC of the story.

Marvelous, absolutely marvelous
Once again Janie did herself proud, I’ve started Shamrock, but was unable to stop until the end.
Aiden and Violet was such a great story, the forgiveness, the heartache and passion just took my breath away.
Frustration was at a max when Aiden was unable to save Vi at the start, I had to take a couple deep breaths, wanted to let rip into him for the fact that he took his mission more seriously at that stage than Vi, poor Aiden, but thank goodness he got his firefly out of that hell hole, wanted to see him get to Randy before the bullet , thought he deserved at least some of his own medicine .
Wondered what happened to the other ladies that was with Vi, hope they were taken care of.
Sheriff Nelson is a sweetheart, the way he accepted the Linear Tactical boys and their stories 😊
Oh boy, did I hate Gabe for his treatment of Jordan, had such compassion for that girl, life is not treating her well at all, very sad
Loved the Bakery name – Fancy pants, saw myself sitting there with a cuppa and nibbling on the pastries, yummy
Loved the fact that Omega Sector helped, great job there, still misses that family of mine 😊 thank you for that Janie, made this book so much extra special
Loved the neighbor watch, great one, hope to hear more of Mazille 😊, Oak Creek is so much more real now, every town needs a Mazille.
What a knock of the storyline with Stellman , did not see that one coming , typical Janie , taking care of a unexpected surprise, great job
Do hope there will be a story for our broken boy Dorian 😊
Thank you Janie, once again a awesome book, can’t wait for the release of Angel

I'm not gonna lie! I am head over heels in love with this series! Janie Crouch has done an outstanding job of creating a world full of relatable characters, and the perfect mix of action/suspense and romance!
I was so excited to read Aiden's story, and I was not disappointed. I was waiting for the series to lose it's sparkle, but it just hasn't happened! Thank goodness! Aiden - code name Shamrock - is undercover trying to bring down Spellman's crime syndicate, as we know from previous books. While working one night, he finds Spellman's men have a woman working for them who appears to be there under duress. Aiden knows he needs to get her out, but can't without blowing his cover.
Violet, kidnapped by Spellman's men and subjected to degradation of the worst kind, recognizes that Aiden is different from the other men, and he gives her that little bit of hope needed to survive the torture and humiliation.
I would truly be hard pressed to choose a favorite book in this series, but Shamrock is definitely a contender for the #1 spot. These books are so well written, the storyline never seems to flatline, the men are swoon worthy, and the women are seriously kick-ass, all in their own ways.
These books could be read as stand-alones; however, the stories are so closely intertwined, I don't recommend it, as they build on each other and you would be missing a lot of back story.
All I can say is this is an absolute must-read!

Shamrock is the third in the Linear Tactical Series. These books just keep getting better. These Linear Tactical guys have been through hell. Aiden is undercover in a gun smuggling ring. He did not realize he was going to see half naked woman being brought in by a thug named Randy. He spots one of the woman who looks likes she wants to run out of there. Aiden takes notice of her and tries to get her alone. He quickly figures out she has a microphone around her neck so Randy can hear her. When Randy takes the girls and leaves Aiden wants to follow but gets side tracked. He finally sees her again at another place where Randy puts the woman up for auction. Aiden gets close to the woman whos name is Violet. He puts a tracking device behind her ear so he can see where she goes. Aiden gets her out of that awful situation. As days go by Aiden and Violet start up a relationship. Violet quit her engineering job to start a bakery, her dream job. But her brother Gabe and a family friend want her back to finish up a project she had been working on. She thought she seen a bad guy but wasn't sure. Then her bakery caught fire. She finally found out who was behind it. Shocked was an understatement. I loved this book from beginning to end. I highly recommend this book and the others too. I can't wait to read more.
