V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her mama over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn't happen.
Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it.
When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.

Arc Book Review
Release Date-4/10/18

So this was the story of Melissa and Yuri and this was a really great addition to the Bratva and Cosa Nostra series.
So I read "Kaznachei's Pain" as a standalone and though technically I followed along easily with this I do think you would get much more out of this experience if the books are read in order.
There are a lot of past book characters included here and I just think that it would help greatly with the immersion and overall connection: I am now myself planning to backtrack with this series as its one that's definitely caught my attention and in a good way.
So this was fast paced and full of twists and turns throughout.
Focusing on Melissa an FBI agent with her own secrets buried deep and Yuri high serving brother of the Russian Bratva.
The unusual almost backward courtship portrayed here was more a product of Yuri's heartbreaking background and I don't mind saying that he acted like a complete knob at the onset.
I do understand why he acted this way: but he still behaved like an utter tosser and I still felt so slighted myself on Melissa's part.
I am so glad that our girl had a backbone of steel in regards to making him take his well-deserved medicine.
So as usual with this particular author, we are kept on our toes throughout.
In this up is down, left is right and everything you think you know is completely the opposite.
This author has a talent for dangling the carrot in front of the reader and watching them take the bait only to purposely muddy the waters and have you doubting your own reason and sanity.
V.F. Mason is a master at this and as usual, we are treated to a front-row seat as this story dramatically unfolds.
This was such a great read despite my not fully appreciating the last few chapters here and that is more of a personal preference rather than any great reflection on this author's excellent skills.
This was as usual fabulously written.
This was my third book by this writer and as expected this was an excellent experience and "Kaznachei's Pain" (Bratva & Cosa Nostra #5) is definitely a book that I am happy to recommend.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of "Kaznachei's Pain" (Bratva & Cosa Nostra #5) of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Told in a dual timeline and full of shocking twists, the Bravta is back with a sexy, gritty and intense tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

V.F. Mason words are compelling! Yuri and Melissa never imagined that they would be drawn to each other, but they were so perfect together, like pieces of a puzzle that just fit ♥.

What I loved the most about this book was that I got the chance to read little pieces about the whole gang, Dom, Gleb, Radimer, and even Michael.

Kaznachei's Pain was a really great addition to the Bratva and Cosa Nostra series. I cannot wait for what is next with this series. Hopefully, we will be getting more of them with the next generation.

It took a moment to gather my thoughts because from page one this story gutted me.

Melissa and Yuri are my third favorite couple in this series. Each story in the series is a stand-alone. And each couple holds a piece of my heart. However, Yuri is my dude. Cold, distant, and methodical, Yuri is s man of few words. He crosses paths with his woman and BOOM! Alpha Yuri front and center! Melissa doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in Bermuda of resisting the Russian devil! But first he has to take care of something....a BIG something! Nope not another relationship....Russians don’t share. At least this group doesn’t.

Grab your tissues, grab the wine, and get ready for a heck of a ride! You’re about to enter Bratva world!

4.5 stars!!!!

I’ve read two books of this series and now I know I’ve gotta read the others as this was so so good.

This is the story of Melissa a FBI Agent and Yuri a brother in the Bratva. Their story is passionate, emotional and intense. The twists and turns had me sitting on the edge of my seat.

Great praise to the author for the fast paced rollercoaster she threw me on. I seriously loved this story. Can’t wait to read more from this author. This will undoubtably be one of my favourite reads of this year.

Kaznachei's Pain was another outstanding book in V.F. Mason's Bratva and Cosa Nostra series. It was an emotional and intense story that painted a picture of Yuri Radionov that we weren't able to see before. I seriously loved this story and all the shocking af twists! Holy Crap this book was phenomenal!

Without giving away any spoilers the story of Melissa and Yuri was unequivocally amazing. It jumped back and forth from the past to the present giving us a glimpse into the lives of both Yuri and Melissa. I loved the passion and intensity of Yuri and Melissa's love but was torn apart by the amount of pain they were in due to circumstances beyond their control. I love that this story had two main characters who never would have expected to be drawn to one another but chance and connection couldn't keep them apart.

All in all this was fantastic! The level of shock and plot twists was mindblowing and just when you think you know what's happening- there are a few huge epic plot twists that will blow your mind. Bravo! 5 stars! Ratula

I love a good mafia romance. The author was able to deliver this and so much more. The characters were funny, complex, and flawed. Melissa and Yuri are two character that shouldn't have been together because of their backgrounds and mainly because of their associations.

The back and forth banter between Melissa and Yuri was funny to read because I didn't know whether Yuri was going to be put in his place or if they were going to get it on. I could tell that Yuri was fighting the emotional attraction while he indulged in the physical attraction. I could also tell that Melissa was hoping to come out of this crazy relationship unscathed. But when you are involved with a man from the bratva anything can happen.

There are characters, of course, like Rosa and Dominic who show up in the book. I would suggest starting their story first before reading this one. It will give you, the reader, a better understanding of all the characters. To Yuri, family is everything. He is a part of a brotherhood. That makes him strong individually and as a whole.

My....My....My.... is what I kept saying after I read this book. I was like holy hell sweet baby jesus my poor Yuri. This story has everything in it. It has the bad guy, the good girl and holy hell the steamy romance. I mean there was passion lot's of passion between Yuri and Melissa. They shared so many intense emotional moments together that the steam was coming through the kindle. At first I didn't think Yuri had that in him because he was so guarded and protected his heart with everything in him but Melissa broke through that and showed Yuri it was okay to show your true emotions.

I loved how the story was presented as past and future. I loved getting glimpses from the past that made Yuri the way he was. Want to talk about a roller coaster ride this was one hell of a ride. I mean like superman roller coaster at great adventures. I loved this story and I will be reading the other books because this series is seriously bad a$$.

This is the first book I have read in this series, but not the first I have read by this author. This certainly can be read without having read the first books in the series. It starts off with a bang and continued to pull me in throughout the story. Action-packed, heartbreaking, and sexy.

Yuri is the Kaznachei, the money guy. But just because he is ridiculously smart does not lessen how lethal he can be. Raised by the mafia, trained by the badest of the bad. But lost the one that was supposed to be it for him. Now, he sees an opportunity to lose himself in FBI agent Melissa.
Melissa tries her best to go unnoticed. In her line of work, standing out isn't necessarily a good thing. On her birthday she wants to do something a little risky, and Yuri has risky in spades. Melissa is a complicated character. Her background is about as clear as mud.

There were a lot of twists and turns in this story. I was kept guessing and just when you think you know what is happening you realize you are really in the middle of a new plot twist. The story was dark and gritty and filled with characters. I feel like going into this book knowing who the major players are would have been slightly beneficial, but only to really understand who everyone else is. If you are looking for a twisty, complicated, and intriguing mafia read then this is it. I do want to go back in time to read the others books in this series, only to see how everyone gets to this point.

Kaznachei's Pain was another phenomenal book in V.F. Mason's Bratva and Cosa Nostra series. What the reader sees is an emotional and intense read that gets painted really well of of Yuri Radionov that readers weren't able to see before. I seriously adore this read and of all the twists and turns ! Holy Moly, this book was amazing!
This is the story of Melissa , FBI Agent and Yuri , brother in the Bratva. Their story is full of passions, emotions, angst, intense feelings and romance. The story has twists and turns that me sitting literally on the edge of my seat. Melissa and Yuri had one extremely complex relationship due to their intense pasts. Because of all they faced, this was a rollercoaster of a relationship but what a satisfying story for they were able to overcome their pasts and end up together and how they come together was fantastic. Add the romance and steam factor in this read and you get a story that is literally off the charts. I don't want to give any spoilers away but know this is one story that will have you rooting for the main characters and reading until the last word on the last page.

OH YURI.... MELISSA....

How do i even begin to describe you two?

I gave this one specifically 4 stars because i have my own reason.

⚠️⚠️⚠️THIS BOOK have triggers. Such as fighting criminal, human trafficking, abusing, kidnapping and killing. Not from the hero and heroine, its from their enemies.

‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING.

‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS OTT POSSESSIVE AND PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE. He is also cold and at first he was very lost with his thought because of his pasts so you will see how much pain he was carrying with him that made him cold that way...

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE IS A FBI AGENT. She knows how to fight and defend herself. Sassy woman.

‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS....

But both have been celibate for a while.

‼️‼️‼️IT HAS PAST PARTNERS MENTION.
But not too much or too annoying...

The hero’s past partner was dead a while ago so she show up on his flashback memories and his thoughts at first. But when he start to made the heroine into his life, he slowly never talks about or think about his past life and past partner...

‼️‼️‼️IT HAS PUSHING AWAY from the hero.

AND THAT WHAT MADE ME GIVE IT A 4 STARS.

It was damn too annoying... even when the heroine was pregnant with his child, at first few months he push the heroine away and IT COST HIM BIG TIME. What i mean big, really sadly big. And he deserves it of course because what he did that pushing away too many times. Well done dummie lol.

“I SAID SOME STUFF I SHOULDN’T HAVE, LIKE CLAIMING TO THE GUYS IT WAS JUST S*X OR WHAT IT MEANT NOTHING. WHEN IT MEANT EVERYTHING....”

“For months you said so to your friends too. That I’m nothing but your child’s mother. And now you want to come here and change your mind? That not going to happen. There is no us because there never was an us.” TAKE THAT HUH!!!

The heroine never push the hero away... She actually did because the hero was pushing her away many times so she did like what he did but more harder. And he deserves it for sure.

THE HERO push the heroine away because he was too damaged from his past. I get it. But because it was many times, not much but many times, I really can’t be reasonable with him lol.

‼️‼️‼️WHEN THE HERO REALIZE HIS MISTAKES OF PUSHING THE HEROINE MANY TIMES. He was very very extremely sad and even said this;

“I HURT HER, AND I DON’T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. YOU KNOW WHEN I SAW HER FOR THE FIRST TIME, I JUST... I WANTED HER. IN A WAY I NEVER WANTED ANOTHER WOMAN. SHE WAS JUST SO DIFFERENT FROM HER (his past partner)...

He said sorry too many times and he regrets the bad things he said about the heroine.

“ITS YOURS. ITS THE GOOD FOR NOTHING HEART OF A MAN WHO HURT YOU SO MUCH BECAUSE HE DIDN’T CHERISH YOU WHEN HE HAD THE CHANCE. BUT BEATS FOR YOU. ONLY YOU. THERE IS NO ONE ELSE THERE BUT YOU. PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR THE PAIN I BROUGHT YOU.”

‼️‼️‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT.

‼️‼️‼️HOT VERY HOT SMUT SCENES!!!

‼️‼️‼️MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HERO AND very little from the heroine herself.

“FURY AND IRRATIONAL POSSESSIVENESS SWEPT THROUGH ME WHEN I SAW CONNOR CLOSE TO MELISSA.”

And many more from that one.

‼️‼️‼️IT HAS SEPARATION. 5 months to be exact... AND BOTH NEVER GO TO ANYONE ELSE OR TOUCHED ANYONE ELSE EVEEEER... even when the hero was pushing the heroine away and didn’t have a official relationship with her, he never touched or even go to anyone else. Both never did.

“I haven’t touched another woman since Melissa.”

🥺🥺🥺

‼️‼️‼️DRAMA WITH OM AND NO DRAMA WITH OW. Not too much or too annoying. Other crazy drama is about their past and their enemies...
And it was not too annoying either...

‼️‼️‼️SAFE HOT ROMANTIC LOVE STORY...

‼️‼️‼️HAPPY ENDING...

20 years epilogue... Happily ever after....

This blew my mind
Http://jodiesbookreviews.blogspot.com

In Short
- Both Melissa's and Yuri's story is full of heart break but also love.
- The twists and turns in this book are astonishing.
- There is so much to this story it's impossible to get it across in a review or blurb.

In Long
Wow! I don't know how to else to start this review. This book completely took me by surprise, in a VERY good way!

When I first started Kaznachei's Pain I was a little unsure if it would be something I would enjoy, I felt a little flustered at the beginning with all the changing between past and present. This, however, actually turned around to be a positive thing. V.F. Mason kept me completely gripped in both the past and present, needing to see where they got to the point they were at now and what would happen to Melissa and Yuri.

Melissa and Yuri's story is a full of anguish, heart break but most importantly love. Both of their stories are as complex and disturbing as each others and V.F. Mason never seemed to run out of revelations to astonish me. The list of twists and turns in this book is something I just can not even begin to explain.

Melissa is someone you want to wrap in bubble wrap, she is too independent for her own good sometimes and you just WANT her to be happy. Her story completely surprised me and was just one of the many bomb shells which V.F. Mason enthralled me with.

Yuri is a complex character who has so much to him, this is where the reader really benefits from going between past and present. I felt like I really knew Yuri by the end of this book as well as I would a best friend.

I haven't read the other books in this series but without a doubt I will be now. I already feel a craving to know more about the other characters in this book.

Final Thoughts
I honestly don't feel I can do this book justice and although the blurb definitely lured me in there is just so so so much more to this story than you could ever get across in a blurb or review.

Pain and suffering, guns, violence and crimes. This is the life they know.

Mafia, brotherhoods, loyalty to the end. Secrets and lies, truth and pain.

Rescued from the gutter, patched up and given a second chance. This is Yuris new life.

Catching criminals is her job, not fratanising with them. Her sole mission is to shut down child trafficking rings and this along with the man in the bar starts a whole chain of catastrophic events.

What a fantastic edge of your seat read! fast paced and action packed, with a side order of passion and Sorrow.

V.f Mason does it again, draws you in slowly, let's you get attached to the characters, and then wham! hits you in the face with hard gritty reality.

A spy hole into the world of the bratva brotherhood. It's both scary and exhilarating, steamy and harsh, and it's left me feeling high as a kite after so much action.

Not a book to read just before bed, that's for sure! I feel energised and ready to kick ass. *chuckles*

This can be read as either a standalone as I did or as a continuation of the series. Either way it's going to blow your mind!

Kaznachei's Pain is the fifth book but can be read as standalone. I read this book first in the series and the only thing I found was the need to start from the beginning because this series has to be great if they are anything like this one.

VF Mason is a very talented author but I worry for her mindset. I'm just kidding but her books are dark and intriguing and she quickly became one of my top 10 authors. She does not wow books that you can pick up and read all at once. You have to put it down and digest what you've read and there is a lot of Russian which I like to translate but you can get the gist through her filtering sentences.
You can't go wrong with this book if you like suspense, action, intrigue, more suspense and a love story with achingly painful results with twists that keep you invested in what the final results will be.

Kaznachei's Pain is the fifth book but can be read as standalone and not missing too much cause i read this book first in the series and didn't miss much except the need to read this series from the start cause this book is just sooo good, i need to know the other member love journey.
Now, Kaznachei's Pain from the prologue already grip my heart. You can just feel the air in that room Yuri's at was so over whealming and just tough. But then the author put my krypthonite in. She wrote, "....I swiftly removed the hospital garb covering my three-piece suit and secured a man-bun at the back of my head."
I explain if you don't follow me. Man bun and three pieces suit!
I'm dead.
Not the author fault when i have to stop reading then google for the pic just from that cause MAN BUN and THREE PIECES SUIT!
If you feel they are just words, babe then you are muggles! Cause the way V.F. Mason simply write it makes vivid image in my head that just had me drooling in need of Yuri's picture!

Ok move along with the book🙈😂

I love this beutiful hard man with his tortured soul and vulnerable heart. The way the author talk about him just vivid. He is your alpha i take what i want when i want without care. On contrary. He feels too much. That's why he keep pushing Melissa away while in the same time he couldn't resist what his heart wants. I love this kinda hero. So strong my tortured alpha.
And Melissa...she got secrets. She's not who she is potraying her self. Building walls around her just to keep living while not very much alive so her past won't find her, i love her attitude.

Past face, steamy, there's trigger warning coming. One scene that just tore my heart appart. My stomach roll cause of the vivid image i get. That one scene is a cringe worthy and evil beyond believe. Hint: focus from the start.

And then Yuri and Arthur broke my heart. I cried when Yuri play that phone message for Arthur.

Emotion run rampant with this book. I am so ready to throw my kindle when finally....finally! OMG that bathroom steamy scene! Need re read on that scene alone🔥🔥🔥🔥
If the first steamy scene between them was hot but too fast ending, the second was sweet, hard with their connection getting stronger...the steamy scene in the bathroom sure vavavavom!

And the ending...i'm just gonna ask, when will the kids get their own story?

Oh my word, Melissa and Yuri’s story almost wrecked me and I loved it! A heads-up for readers, this is the author’s fifth book in the Bratva and Cosa Nostra series and can be read as a standalone.

Yuri was a teenage runaway when he was found by the Bratva and raised him as one of their own. They knew his background, his potential and embraced him into the fold providing protection, giving him a family, he thought he got away from his past. His grim history will eventually catch up with him and his loved ones become collateral damage.

Melissa is an FBI agent and got embroiled in Yuri’s world. Her lackluster persona isn’t what she really is inside, it is a facade; she has her own share of dangerous secrets and falling in love with Yuri will end her. Is it worth it?

Yuri and Melissa’s love story felt like it was doomed right from the start but surely there must be a tiny sliver of light for their future? This book told in dual points of view and alternating in the past and present is such an amazing read. When you open the first page you hit the ground running and just when you thought you have it all sussed out the author pulls the rug out of your feet halfway through. She pulls you in deeper into the story with her words, tugs a little bit more and then you fall out of your seat.

There are so many twists and turns and is so fast-paced that reading this book will leave your heart pumping and your fingernails chewed to bits. The other Bratva brothers play a big part in this book and are as memorable as the main protagonists it makes me want to read their stories too. A dark and action-packed mafia romance, this book is a welcome change from my usual fluffy book choices these past few weeks. This is a well-written story with just enough technical details to grab your attention and totally unputdownable. Have your household chores put on hold, your mobile phone on silent mode and your feet up, enjoy a few hours of adrenaline-filled action. There are no rainbows and unicorns in this book, it's all hearts and guns, baby!

Melissa’s surprised when she gets brought a drink at the bar, but more surprised by the hot man with ocean blue eyes in the three-piece suit that brought it, not liking his approach she walks away.
Melissa didn’t have any qualities that Yuri normally liked but he wanted her.
Wondering what she would look like not having to hide her family familiarity she leaves the bathroom, only to have a gun pulled on her, while Yuri saves her, a member of Cosa Nostra mentions her name, she explains he was there for her, being told it was family business she leaves.
Yuri catches her before she leaves wanting to know who she is, but he wants her, deciding there was no illusion about feelings she decided to go with him.
Yuri knew he was crazy she was FBI, but he had to possess her, he had never needed a woman more, even for one night.
Melissa’s body didn’t care that is was wrong that he was a member of the mafia and the Bratva, but she saw something in him, that he needed this. Yuri ignites an inferno in her, but if she knew the consequences of the one night it never would have happened.
Yuri continually turns up when Melissa is in danger, knowing if he stays she will fall she tells him, she will be fine and not to mix his grief with a sense of responsibility for her, she can’t see him every day, she knows she would fall for him.
Melissa needed to find out if Yuri was going to be part of her life and soon. Yuri knows he had to end things with Melissa, more time and he wouldn’t let her go, when she calls he lets her know, it’s time to end things, but she tells him she loves him and wanted to tell him in person that she’s pregnant.
Melissa won’t settle for not being first and although Yuri tried she turned him away, for once she should have listened to him, she never expected her kidnapper to be Yuri’s father and only hopes Yuri will find them in time.
Yuri gets a phone call from the father he thought was dead, the video he sends, letting Yuri know he knows what he wants and to bring it to him in time.
While they all thought they knew where the danger was coming from, they couldn’t have been more wrong. Loved the ending with the glimpse into the future, can’t wait to see what’s next.

This is the story of Melissa a FBI Agent and Yuri a brother in the Bratva. Through this series we've gotten glimpses into their relationship, which left us wanting to know more and now we have it. I loved the in depth story to their relationship, their story is passionate, emotional and intense. The twists and turns had me sitting on the edge of my seat.

Kaznachei's Pain was a really great addition to the Bratva and Cosa Nostra series. I cannot wait for what is next with this series. I'm eager to see where this next generation will take us!!

Wow! This book was such an amazing read! It's the first of the Bratva & Cosa Nostra books that I've read (from V.F. Mason), so it was fun getting to know all of the characters. And I'm certainly excited to read all the other stories whenever I get a break from blogging and reading arcs.

I just have to say, thank goodness for Google Translate. Not only can I plug in what my Kindle doesn't translate (which was all of the Russian that was in the book), but I can have it speak the words and phrases for me, so that I can read more smoothly and with the right pronunciation. While V.F. Mason does a good job with explaining what was said in Russian, there were some points where it wasn't explained at all (on purpose, I think), but my curious mind had to know right then and there, so that's where Google Translate came in.

This book is full of suspense. You've got three main mobs that are kind of at war with each other, and it's all kind of surrounding Melissa, the girl that Yuri (AKA Kanznachei, pronounced kaz-netch-ee) has fallen in love with. But Yuri can't get his head out of his ass and admit that he loves her.

I couldn't put this book down. I absolutely love mafia books, and the Russian mafia books are definitely my favorite. This has to be one of my more favorite mafia books that I've read, because of all the characters and the amount of suspense and page-turning action that we get. And of course, there's a lot of love found in these pages. Not just between Melissa and Yuri, but between most of the Bratva members and their respective significant others.

This can be read as a standalone, but there were some parts where I felt it would have been beneficial to know what had happened in previous books. We do get flashbacks, and while I'm not sure if these flashbacks are from parts of previous books or not, they are very beneficial in learning who Yuri and Melissa are before they found each other.

ruth be told, I am obsessed with V.F. Mason’s books! Ever since I read the Socio Series, I have been addicted and pretty much try to grab and review all of the books related to Socio and Pakhan series.

As Kaznachei I mean Yuri, is part of the Bratva, then we get to go back to my favorite Russians.

So here pretty much, we have the story of Yuri (Bratva) and Melissa (FBI). Do you see where there are complications?

Well, there are more complications along the way, but my lips are sealed.

As in all the books in these related series, you have the fun parts, the really bad and heartbreaking moments and as always get sucked into an emotional roller coaster. As I am addicted to those books, I know usually how it is going to be like and I keep a box of tissues handy!

Ok, I cried twice!

It is really difficult to read when you are tearing up like I was!

Now, if you have read any of the other books in the related series, then you know pretty much what you are in for! I am not going to tell you and spoil it for you all!

We all know that I do not roll like that.

However, I can tell you that Kaznachei’s Pain is as wonderfully written and emotional as the other books and high standards of writing and storytelling are there. It always baffles me that I am so attached to these amazing characters, cause let us be honest, in real life how emotionally attached would you be to a guy in the Russian mafia? A rhetorical question of course.

You cannot help sometimes who you fall for, but yes!

So, I am going to tell you to go grab and read all the books, cause they are awesome and each is better than the other! So you will not be disappointed and as you can imagine, I am going to be very highly recommending Kaznachei’s Pain.

Trust me, I would not steer you wrong!

This is part of a series, but for me it can be read as a stand alone since the characters stories are self contained. I did read some of the earlier books in the series, but it has been awhile so I can say that this is a new couple’s story and it can be read as a standalone.

Melissa is an FBI agent who gets involved with Yuri who is a top member of the Russian Bratva. He quickly become possessive of her since he is haunted by mistakes in his past which cost him dearly. Although he tells her that it will be just a fling until they are ready to move on. She is convinced that she can break down his walls, but we learn that he is very damaged and more of a challenge than she can solve. I can’t say much more since there is so much going on that is best discovered on your own. I must say that there were some real twists that I didn’t see coming. Yuri’s father comes in to play and Melissa has a whole other side to her.

The author could have easily broken this into a couple books…and by saying that there is a whole lot going on in this book. I’m glad it was kept as one, but just when you thought things were going to settle down, everything is twisted around. The ending is so unexpected and yet it fit the story perfectly. I can’t wait to read more of this series

Hero (Yuri) 4 | Heroine (Melissa) 4 | Plot 4 | Writing Style 4 | Steam 4 | Romance 3 | Angst-Suspense 4 | Darkness 2 | Humor 1 | Secondary Characters 4 | Drama-Conflict 3 | Mystery 3 | Twists 5 | Action 3 | Pacing Steady | Dual POV | MF | Mafia | FBI Agent | Secret Past | Overall 4 Stars

This was a great story. It was heart wrenching at times as well as humorous, touching, and a love story of two people who in most cases would never find themselves together. Almost considered a forbidden love. The twists in this story kept me turning the pages and they kept pulling into the story. The men in the Bratva were men who had to overcome a lot to survive and make a life for themselves. Even though they had some situations that made them question the loyalty of some others, they still stayed true to their friendship and stood behind each other when they needed to. There were a few times where Kaznachei made his best friends question him and his loyalty, but they never turned their backs on them.

I loved the camaraderie these men had and their loyalty to each other even if their loyalty to the brotherhood may have been doubtful sometimes. The pain that Yuri has overcome a lot in his life and he believes that his heart will never be open to anyone and that he has nothing to give to a woman, but when he finds Melissa he will learn that his past heartbreak taught him so much more than he realizes.

I love the ending and am looking forward to the second generation. I really want to know what he told them…although because of Yuri’s reaction, I think I know what it is. I give this story a 5 star review and really hope there are more to come soon.

My goodness! What a ride these two went on!
Melissa and Yuri were everything that you love in a mafia romance drama...stubborn, independent and vulnerable. The heartache...I didn’t want to put this book down once I got started. I had to know what caused so much pain.
Yuri drove me mad sometimes. Why fight it dude?! I understand now but come on! But all he really wanted was that unconditional love.
Melissa...Tough girl walking. Not wanting to give anything away but she is probably the bravest woman alive for what she was put through. I can’t imagine that amount of pain.
Together they found a love they weren’t looking for. It was quite special and beautiful. The twists and mysteries that Mason is a master at giving us was evident and totally blew me away. She really brought it again with the brothers. Hopefully the second generation will get their stories told! Good job!

VF Mason never ceases to amaze me with these Russian Mafia stories.

While I haven't read all of the series, you can't help but to fall in love with the characters and get attached to the family they have developed.

This book broke my heart and had me on the edge of my seat. When you know that some of these circumstances have the ability to be fictional in some people's lives, it hits the emotions.

I loved the heroine so much in this story. She had a rough start, life wasn't easy, but she didn't let it stop her. She was a strong and fierce. Sure she may have had a moment, but she never quit fighting. Yet, with all of that strong-headed stubbornness, she still caught the eye of the strong and controlled Kaznachei.

While I loved this book immensely, the epilogue was probably my favorite part. I mean you get attached to these characters and they're family!

Let me start off by saying this was only my second book by V.F.Mason and I am kicking myself that I have not found this author sooner. This is the 5th book in the Bratva and Cosa Nostra series and truly enjoyed it. This book can be read as a standalone because it does give enough backstory with the characters but I felt I would have loved it even more if I had read the rest of the series first( but I know what i will be doing this weekend!)
This book focuses on Yuri and Melissa, and let me say watching the progression of their relationship, I loved it. One of my favorite things about this book was the fact that Melissa had a backbone and was not a pushover when it came to Yuri.
Yuri, is the kind of character that my heart hurts for. His life was not easy and his journey to love was not either. This book was a great read and I cannot wait for more! 4 stars for a great story!

Wow, Yuri and Melissa's story is heart wrenching and beautiful all at the same time.

Yuri was in love with a girl when he was a teenager and he believes that it was him loving her that ended up getting her killed. Years later he is completely closed off from his emotions and he just has s*x when he needs it and his women know that there are no happily ever afters coming from getting involved with him. When he sees Melissa in a bar his body seems to be inexplicably drawn to her and he tells himself that he must remain emotionless, this will be a one night stand just like any other. These two both have pasts they are running from and when they collide all bets are off. This is a beautiful story, but it is also very heart wrenching and you'll have to read it to find out what happens. Definitely recommend this book as a must read!

Kaznachei's Pain is one gut wrenching keeps you on your toes read. You have what seems like an unlikely pairing of Melissa the FBI agent and Yuri a member of the Russian Mob. But as you read and follow along with the twist you see they are more alike then you can imagine. Watching Yuri fight to not fall in love with Melissa is just a beautiful yet tragic thing. Reliving their pasts as you come to their now and future together you can't help but be hit in the gut. V.F. Mason did a phenomenal job bringing Yuri and Melissa to life. Tears may just spill a little here and there as you feel both their pain in discovering who is really behind everything. You really need to run and one click this one because my words can't do it justice.

This story starts off with a tragic event from Yuri's past. Yuri is a member of the mafia. Melissa is an FBI with a dark past and secrets of her own. No matter how they fight it, the attraction is overwhelming and intense for the couple. How will things turn out with each of them on the opposite side of the law? Will Yuri's and Melissa's pasts keep them apart or even get them killed? A wonderful read that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
