Orangeburg, SC – The Fayetteville State women's volleyball team improved to 4-0 in CIAA play and 4-1 overall with a weekend sweep over Elizabeth City State and Bowie State at the CIAA round-up event hosted by Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC.
The Broncos topped the ECSU Vikings 3-0 (25-12, 25-7, and 25-21) on Saturday (Oct. 5) in its opening match and defeated the BSU Bulldogs 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, and 25-9) on Sunday (Oct. 6).
Chynna Hunt led the team on Saturday with 13 kills with
Casandra Watson close behind with 7. Nakia McKinnie set up 20 assists and
Journee Hartsfield had 10 with three service aces.
Jasmine Jacinto had 15 digs.
Watson, who leads the team with a season-high 63 kills, put down eight kills out of 16 attacks in the win over Bowie State. Hunt and
Da'Nesha Miller finished with five kills. Hartsfield led all with 11 assists and Jacinto had 11 digs.
Fayetteville State had 11 service aces with McKinnie collected four.
Elizabeth City State drops to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Bowie State is now 2-8 and 0-3.
The Broncos will travel to Saint Augustine's on Wednesday (Oct. 9) for a 6 p.m. match against the Falcons.
