How can geology support sustainable development?

Many of the SDGs require improved management of natural resources (e.g., land, energy, water, minerals), or understanding of Earth processes to ensure people, jobs and infrastructure are resilient to environmental change or geological hazards.

Global Influencing

We advocate for the integration of geoscience into sustainable development at international forums, and are working to reshape the global geology community to better serve society.

International Projects

We develop and support programmes to improve lives and livelihoods in the Global South, through access to geological science. By the end of 2021 we envisage our work having helped to address six of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, across five different countries.
