Nicaragua Truck - A Rural Lifeline

Tax deductible
We recently purchased a 2014 Toyota Hylux with 72000km (45,000 miles) on it.  This was an emergency purchase as our previous truck was on its last leg.

We paid $14,500 for the truck.  We need to raise the whole amount but are hoping to raise part of it through this campaign and the other parts through various grants we have applied for.

The Truck is a Lifeline for our work in rural Nicaragua.

The truck serves many purposes:

to bring volunteer teachers to curriculum planning meetings

to bring the brigadistas (nurses) to the Nancy Lund Clinic to see patients

to treat patients with chronic renal disease in their homes

to prepare children for going to the US through Shriners and World Pediatric Program and taking them to the airport

as an ambulance in the area – especially more frequently, to transport patients that need outside care be it radiographs, lab work or to see a specialist

to provide transport for immunizations in the greater area serving 42,000 people

to make house call for medical, education and social crisis (domestic violence, hospice services)

to provide transportation for all of our daily supplies – i.e. food, office supplies, gas we use to cook, and many other community needs.
