Story

Almost 22 years have now passed since I was first diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, which was discovered by doctors after I suffered a fit whilst playing minor counties cricket for Berkshire.

I was able to manage the tumour for just over ten years, but things took a turn for the worse when it showed signs of growth in 2009, then again in 2015 and 2016.

More recently, I have suffered two debilitating strokes in 2018 and 2020, which have left me increasingly unable to communicate and walk.

Throughout my journey, the Professional Cricketers' Trust has provided invaluable support for myself, my wife Liz and our seven-year-old daughter Beth, as I have moved into end of life care at our home in Yorkshire.

This month, I want to give something back by completing 5k May in aid of the Trust alongside Liz and Beth.

Please join me in donating to the cause and completing your own 5km, whether it's running, walking, swimming, cycling or rolling, before nominating five more to do the same.

Your support really will go a long way to helping professional cricketers past and present when they need it most, just like me.
