2019 Finalists

The finalists for the 2019 National Enterprise Educator Awards have been announced.

Enterprise catalyst – an individual enterprise or entrepreneurship educator or practitioner who is driving transformational change inside or outside the curriculum. Category sponsored by SimVenture Business Simulations.

  • Ed Halliday, King’s College London

Ed has helped to transform the university’s reputation for building brilliant startup ventures. He has supported over 60 startup teams to achieve extraordinary commercial success and social impact. Ed believes deeply in the power of enterprise education in helping people prove what they can achieve when given the chance. Ed is committed to ensuring these experiences work, are scalable, remain open to anyone regardless of background, and are sustained through a vibrant, interconnected entrepreneurial ecosystem at King’s and beyond.

  • James Williams, University of Wales Trinity Saint David

James is the ultimate enterprise catalyst, passionate about inspiring and empowering others to achieve their full potential and positively influence society in both entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial ways. His fresh inspiring and dynamic approach, enhanced with a comprehensive understanding of emerging technologies, has pro-actively supported the enterprise culture and eco-system within the region. Smiling and positive he leads by example, role modelling an entrepreneurial educator, driving transformational change in the development and delivery of enterprise and entrepreneurship education.

  • Adrian De La Court, Goldsmiths, University of London

Adrian De La Court has developed Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship education at Goldsmiths, using innovative techniques and access to new finance to support creative and social innovation. He has developed a unique innovative, interactive pedagogical approach that engages students, develops their confidence and has led to robust, sustainable enterprises emerging from students’ creative ideas. His work influences at a global level. He has embedded entrepreneurial thinking into students’ practice and has empowered  the careers of many.

  • Leading the Way in Inspiring Sheffield with STEM, University of Sheffield

Sheffield Engineering Leadership Academy (SELA) is the University of Sheffield’s programme to develop high-potential undergraduate engineers into leaders who can make positive impact in research and industry. SELA challenges members through real projects that use enterprise and entrepreneurship to link their leadership training to significant issues affecting our city – such as STEM engagement, Industry 4.0, climate change, and pressures on health and social care. They seize opportunities, create vision, widely engaging with stakeholders to effect real, positive change.

  • Imperial Enterprise Lab: From Startup to Scale-up, Imperial College London

Imperial Enterprise Lab, Imperial College London’s student entrepreneurship centre, has directly supported the formation of over 100+ student startups (including 30 female-led start-ups) who have gone onto raise £50M+ in funding. In the last year it has tripled the amount of sponsorship raised from commercial partners (from £70k to £210,000+) and led on the creation and roll-out of the Imperial Venture Mentoring Service (IVMS) – the first UK adoption of the MIT VMS model – recruiting 50 mentors and 30+ student startups.

  • Creative Enterprise Centre, University of Westminster

The Creative Enterprise Centre (CEC) is a student and graduate enterprise hub founded in April 2017; supporting University of Westminster students and graduates to develop their enterprise and entrepreneurship competencies. Over a 2 year period the CEC team has fostered a culture of entrepreneurship across the University and delivered an expansive and effective enterprise programme engaging over 3000 students in extra and co-curricular enterprise activities which include 1:1 business advice, live briefs, paid freelance work, workshops, mentoring and business competitions.

The winner in each category will be announced at the IEEC2019 Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony at Oxford Town Hall, St Aldate’s, Oxford on Thursday September 5th 2019.
