We have an exciting new opportunity in Research and Innovation Funding, in the Department of Research Development. We are a multi-disciplinary team of experienced research management professionals, who have in-depth knowledge of research and knowledge exchange within Higher Education. The Role
You will join a team of Research and Innovation Funding professionals, who support academic colleagues to secure funding for their research and innovation activities. This includes identification of core funding opportunities and support for bid development. The team currently comprises a Head, 3FTE Research and Innovation Managers and 2FTE Research and Innovation Officers.
The Department of Research Development supports the three academic faculties in Funding, Integrity & Governance, Research Excellence & Impact and Researcher Development & Training. Team members in the Research and Innovation Funding Unit (RIFU) work closely with Schools and Faculties to develop their strategic research portfolios and capacity for securing external funding. You will work closely with colleagues in Research Development and other Departments in the University, and with stakeholders outside the University to support and develop Research and Enterprise activities, plans and ambitions. The Person
You are educated to degree level and will have demonstrable experience of accessing grant funding, supporting development of proposals and motivating individuals to take forward their project ideas. You may have worked closely with/for a funding body, in a research development capacity and/or are prepared to develop funder specific expertise. Experience supporting Research Innovation, either through funding bids or development activity would be desirable.
You will have an excellent understanding of the research funding landscape and be able to interpret complex funder information and guidance and communicate this information succinctly and accurately. You will work effectively and flexibly with a range of internal and external stakeholders as well as within and across hierarchies. You need to be collegial and supportive in working with others, and be able to negotiate priorities to ensure the best outcome. You will be able to organise your work programme independently and work well in a team.
