Scott MacLeod is an American anthropologist ("Naked Harbin Ethnography," WUaS Press, 2016), sociologist ("Society, Information Technology, and the Global University" course), a poet (with 4 books , 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, published in the Poetry Press at WUaS, many Harbin-inspired), and philosopher (having written about philosophy of mind, consciousness, language, ethics, regarding western or analytical thinking & Yoga philosophy, consciousness, and ethics - and see blog labels: e.g. https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/philosophy). He is especially known for his work in the field of science and technology studies regarding a realistic virtual earth / a #RealisticVirtualHarbin Hot Springs for Physical-Digital ethnographic, and STEM, research.

Scott G.K. MacLeod is also an American academic and Professor of Sociocultural Anthropology and Sociology at World University and School. He is currently also the publisher at the Academic Press at World University and School. MacLeod was born in 1960 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, at a time when his parents were living in Lexington, MA. His parents met and married in the Unitarian church of Cincinnati, Ohio. (His father was a MD, who also taught medical grand rounds as a quick knowledgeable diagnostician, and a professor of public health, and his mother became the director of social work in a large urban hospital, returning to university after her 2 children had grown up a bit). Scott grew up on the eastern seaboard of the U.S., attending Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, PA, from which he recieved a diploma, and Reed College in Portland, Oregon, where he received a Bachelor's degree (1985) in Religion (and German). He then received a Master's Degree (2003) in sociocultural Anthropology (with a focus on information technologies) from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and he also recieved a Diploma of Research (2004) in Ethnology (with an examination of virtual 'place') from the University of Edinburgh.

Overseas' studies: MacLeod first studied in another country in 1972-1973 in Geneva, Switzerland, in middle school, at Ecolint (an I.B. school), for 6 months, when his family lived there (his father was studying the health systems of 3 other European countries on a Ford Foundation grant), and then in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1977-1978 at Fettes College in the 1st year 6th Form of A levels, between his junior and senor years of Shady Side Academy, then in Munich, Germany, in 1981-1982 for 13 months, at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, through a Reed College program (living in the home of a Quaker family in Garching for his last 2.5 months there), and then in Scotland, studying at the University of Edinburgh, in the School of Scottish and Celtic Studies in 2003-2004, for another full year there.

Scott grew up on the eastern seaboard of the U.S., attending Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, PA, from which he recieved a diploma, and Reed College in Portland, Oregon, where he received a Bachelor's degree (1985) in Religion (and German). He then received a Master's Degree (2003) in sociocultural Anthropology (with a focus on information technologies) from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and he also recieved a Diploma of Research (2004) in Ethnology (with an examination of virtual 'place') from the University of Edinburgh. Overseas' studies: MacLeod first studied in another country in 1972-1973 in Geneva, Switzerland, in middle school, at Ecolint (an I.B. school), for 6 months, when his family lived there (his father was studying the health systems of 3 other European countries on a Ford Foundation grant), and then in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1977-1978 at Fettes College in the 1st year 6th Form of A levels, between his junior and senor years of Shady Side Academy, then in Munich, Germany, in 1981-1982 for 13 months, at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, through a Reed College program (living in the home of a Quaker family in Garching for his last 2.5 months there), and then in Scotland, studying at the University of Edinburgh, in the School of Scottish and Celtic Studies in 2003-2004, for another full year there.
