One million under 25's are facing an unprecedented jobs crisis because of coronavirus. By training and employing young people from disadvantaged backgrounds as sports coaches, we can change this. We can help young people build the skills, confidence and experience to succeed in work and life.

    Situation

More than one in four young people claim their future career prospects have already been damaged by the coronavirus crisis, while half say it will be “harder than ever” to get a job. [‘Young People in Lockdown Report’ by YouGov and Princes Trust, 2020]. Worringly, there’s clear evidence that being unemployed when you’re young can have many negative, long-term consequences including: damage to mental health, income and employment prospects. We need to act now to change this.

    Solution

To combat youth unemployment we train and employ young people, from disadvantaged backgrounds with limited prospects, as sports coaches and future leaders. Since 2012, we’ve helped 550+ young people achieve qualifications, life-skills and experience to thrive and gain employment. They’ve delivered sports coaching sessions and had 1.9m+ coaching interactions with young people in schools, leisure centres and youth clubs across the UK where they are relatable and inspiring mentors and role-models.
