Kent Green Action

Kent Green Action is our campaign to connect people with nature, and inspire everyone to take action to improve our environment.

Climate change, plastic pollution, water scarcity and threats to our pollinators are just some of the issues we face in Kent. We work hard to address these issues through the Kent Environment Strategy and our other environmental policies. However, we must all work together to protect our environment and keep Kent a great place to live, work and visit.

Valuing and protecting our local environment not only helps to protect the natural world but also leads to great benefits for our health, wellbeing, and local economy.

Get involved

We'd love to see everyone in Kent get involved in our exciting plans, teachers and students, businesses and charities, residents and visitors.

We have lots of ideas to support Kent's residents, business owners, teachers and community groups to promote collective action. No action is too big, or too small.

Be inspired

We'd love everyone in Kent to be involved in our campaign. One of the easiest ways you can help is by working to inspire or enable others.

Great work is already being done around the county to reduce our impact on the environment. At Explore Kent, you can read about some of the businesses and groups leading positive environmental projects in Kent.

You can start by simply sharing these tips with others, display our free green action posters in your workplace, or be bold and arrange your own campaign within your community.

There’s plenty of help available to support you reduce energy use at home, manage a green business, or run an eco-school project.

You can also keep up to date and learn more about our environment by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

Work with us

We are investing in Kent’s future by expanding our Environment and Circular Economy division to tackle the challenges we are facing as a result of the climate emergency.

Our green action

Working together with local authorities and partner organisations, we:

We recognised the UK climate emergency on 23 May 2019 and have pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from our own buildings and activities to net zero by 2030.

Alongside all 14 local authorities in Kent and Medway, we are also committed to reducing our countywide emissions net zero by 2050.

We're also considering the actions we can take to prepare our county for the future with several climate change adaptation projects.
