A creative approach to life's serious stuff

Play is often children’s primary method of communication. At Dramatherapy Ireland we provide a creative space that allows children to express themselves in a safe and confidential manner.

WHAT IS

Dramatherapy?

Dramatherapy is the use of theatre techniques to facilitate personal growth and promote mental health. Through play we can touch on issues that may be arising and process them by expressing oneself. Emotions, behaviours and situations can be explored through drama games, role play, storytelling, puppetry, masks, myths and fairytales.

About Us

"You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation"

Plato

Facing emotional challenges being a kid is quite difficult sometimes. Feelings like anxiety, grief, depression, stress, and anger can be overwhelming and little minds may struggle to cope up with these changing emotions and as a result their behaviour may change, they may act out or withdraw from the world. They may become quiet, tearful or angry.

At Dramatherapy Ireland we want to help our clients express their emotions in a positive way. But sometimes words just aren’t enough. We use role play, voice work, movement and storytelling to help clients explore and solve personal and social problems.

Mindfulness For Parents
By Ciara O'Sullivan 18 Jun, 2021
Mindfulness is one strategy that can reduce the stress of being a parent. Mindfulness is a way of being. Practicing mindfulness means paying attention to what’s happening in the moment and accepting those experiences and feelings without judgment. What does that look like in the everyday life of a parent?

Our Primary Goal

Promote Positive Behavioural Changes

The objective dramatherapy is to provide people with a safe and secure experience that encourages the full expression of their emotional voice through playful, dramatic activity. The desired outcome of drama therapy is different for each participant, but the fundamental model is designed to promote healing and growth through the use of role playing and dramatic interactions.
