Über 2 Millionen Menschen wurden im Nordosten Nigerias durch die grauenvollen Gewaltausbrüche der Terrorgruppe Boko Haram von ihrem Zuhause vertrieben. Sie mussten mit ansehen, wie nahe Angehörige und Freunde auf schreckliche Weise getötet wurden. Sie haben alles verloren, was sie im Leben besaßen.
Hinzu kommt, dass die Lebensmittelpreise im ganzen Land um ein Vielfaches gestiegen sind. Die Menschen leiden Hunger und haben keine Perspektive.
Ende des Jahres 2012 öffnete "Home For The Needy" in Benin City / Nigeria seine Türen, um stark traumatisierte Kinder, Jugendliche und Witwen aus dem Nordosten Nigerias aufzunehmen. Mittlerweile leben über 4500 Menschen bei "Home For The Needy" und es werden immer mehr...
Hier finden sie Zuflucht, erfahren Liebe und Fürsorge. Es herrscht Frieden. Sie erhalten Nahrung, Kleidung, medizinische Versorgung, Schulbildung, die Möglichkeit eine Berufsausbildung zu absolvieren oder an der Universität zu studieren. Die Arbeit wird durch Spenden finanziert. Ziel ist es, diesen Menschen eine neue Zukunft zu geben!
Dabei sind die Herausforderungen enorm: täglich braucht es große Mengen an Nahrungsmitteln, es mangelt an Medikamenten, Schulheften und -büchern, an Geld zur Zahlung von Studiengebühren, Lehrergehältern..... aber auch an Unterkunftshäusern, Klassenzimmern, Ausstattung für unsere Krankenstation uvm.
Mit jeder Spende dieser Kampagne wird Hilfe zu den über 4500 Kindern und Witwen gesandt, die bei "Home For The Needy" leben - sowohl als finanzielle Unterstützung für die tägliche Versorgung als auch durch die Beschaffung und den Transport von Hilfsgütern.
Ziel ist es, die Not der Menschen vor Ort zu lindern und ihnen zu zeigen, dass sie nicht vergessen sind!

Mein Name ist Daniela Pilih. Ich lebe in Berlin und bin seit dem Jahr 2011 ehrenamtliche Mitarbeiterin bei "Home For The Needy". Gemeinsam mit mehreren anderen Freiwilligen beschaffe ich z.B. Spenden und Hilfsgüter, reise regelmäßig nach Nigeria, um die Kinder und Witwen vor Ort zu besuchen, Hilfsgüter zu bringen und praktische Hilfe zu leisten.

SHELTER & EDUCATION for displaced people in NIGERIA
Over 2 million people were being displaced in the Northeast of Nigeria due to the gruesome violent outbursts of the terrorist group Boko Haram. They had to witness how close relatives and friends were terribly being killed before their eyes. They have lost everything they had in life.
Furthermore, the prices for food stuffs have increased tremendously all over the country. The people suffer from hunger and have no perspective.
At the end of 2012 "Home For The Needy" in Benin City / Nigeria opened its doors for taking in strongly traumatised children and widows from the Northeast of Nigeria. Meanwhile over 4500 people are staying at "Home For The Needy", and counting...
Here they find refuge, they receive love and care. There is peace. They get food, clothes, medical care, education and the opportunity to undergo a vocational training or to study at university. This work is funded by donations. The aim is to give these people a new future!
The challenges hereby are enormous: on a daily basis it requires large amounts of food stuffs, there is a lack of medicines, school books and note books, of money for paying tuition fees and teachers' salaries..... but also of houses for accommodation, class rooms, equipment for our health centre etc.
With each donation of this campaign help is being sent to the over 4500 children and widows staying at "Home For The Needy" - as financial support for their daily provision as well as through the purchase and transport of relief items.
The aim is to alleviate the need of these people and to show them that they are not forgotten!
