Christmas in Redcar and Cleveland 2023

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Redcar and Cleveland!

Christmas is a magical time of the year and as we head towards the month of mulled wine, mistletoe and memory-making, here’s what you can expect to see in the towns of Redcar and Cleveland…

Redcar Lights Switch on and Illumination Parade – 26th November

The magical season of Christmas kicks off in spectacular style in Redcar Town Centre and we hope you will join us in what will be an evening of stunning visual displays, performance, music, lights and all-around joy! Inspired by ‘A Redcar Feast’

Following on from last year’s Illumination Parade, we’re bring a creative spectacle to the town of Redcar with representatives from schools and community groups throughout the borough. Over 200 participants will throng the streets with artwork created with professional artists, including lanterns, costumes and exciting visual spectacles that will light up the route from the Civic Centre to Redcar Town. The parade will also be decked with professional performers, with the sights, sounds and smells of everything festive whilst being entertained by outstanding musical artists.

The Illumination Parade will begin at 4pm from the Civic Centre, so wrap up warm and follow the crowds on a party! And if that wasn’t enough, the stage will be full of entertainment and performance where the big button will be pressed by the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland.


New Marske Christmas Parade – 1st December

Marske is set to sparkle as Santa and his parade including real reindeers, bring festive cheer and excitement to the streets of Marske. There will also be a craft fair and funfair.


Festive Evening at Ormesby Hall – 1st December

Join us for a late-night opening with festive music, food and drink stalls to enjoy by the fire pit and a chance to see the house decorated for Christmas at night.


Saltburn Christmas Parade and Light Switch On – 2nd December

Join Santa and his parade as they leave from Saltburn Fire Station to the Station Portico, Station Square where families will have the opportunity to take it in turns to visit Santa for FREE!!


A Georgian Christmas at Kirkleatham Museum – 2nd & 3rd December

Celebrate a Georgian Christmas at Kirkleatham Museum with a host of festive events and activities including Santa and his reindeers, arts and crafts as well as range of stalls featuring local traders and festive food and drink.


Guisborough Christmas Parade – 5th December

Guisborough’s annual community event run by Guisborough Town Council will take place on Tuesday 5th December 2023. Come and enjoy this festive family event, which includes a Santa’s Parade with reindeer and lots of community group involvement, children’s entertainers, children’s rides, musical performances and a Santa’s grotto in Sunnyfield House. Many shops, cafes and restaurants open for the extended evening too.


Marske Annual Christmas Festival & Craft Fair – 7th December

Once again Marske Community Partnership are organising their annual Christmas festival. This event brings out the spirit of Christmas in everyone throughout Marske.

The Pipers will be leading the parade and Santa will be at the back setting off at 6pm from Errington School. It will go down Windy Hill Lane around the roundabout and along Redcar Road finishing in the grounds of Marske Hall. If you want to see the Parade, you need to line this route so get there early!

Santa will be in his Grotto in The White House on Redcar Road 3.30pm till 5:30pm and 6:30pm till approx. 8.30pm. There will be a fantastic craft fair in Marske Leisure Centre from 3.30pm until 7:30pm where you will be able to get hot food, drinks, and mulled wine.


Saltburn Ice Trail – 16th December

A frosty winter adventure is coming to Saltburn…

After last year’s Ice Trail, renowned ice sculptors Sand in Your Eye will return, to place nine amazing ice sculptures across Saltburn, creating a wonderful one-day trail for families to explore.

Each sculpture will reveal a secret that you’ll need to find to complete the trail competition. The trail will feature a live ice carve, and a workshop with its very own ice post box, where the elves will help you write and post your letters to Santa. Alongside this wonderfully wintery trail, we’ll be joined by street entertainment, live performances, music and a host of Christmas stalls for those last-minute Christmas gifts!

Boxing Day Dip – 26th December

The Boxing Day Dip is back for 2023 when the brave face the freezing North Sea! Whether you’re there purely for the fresh air, fancy dress or to raise money for a good cause, it’s a great morning out!


Tom Rolfe Productions present The Wizard of Oz – 27th – 31st December

Take a stroll down the yellow brick road this Christmas and join Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion on the most magical adventure of all ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Live on stage in Redcar. Jam packed with all your favourite comedy chaos, sensational costumes, hilarious comedy and enough panto pandemonium to keep the whole family entertained this festive season.
