    Title: How May Academics Collaborate with Industry to Commercialize Their Research

    Abstract: Translating fundamental scientific and technological achievements into real product forces that serve and sustain our society has always been an important topic among scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs. In this talk, the speaker will share about BICI’s models that help inventors cross the chasm between academia and industry, and through case studies show how the design of innovation platforms can enable optimized allocation of market resources and provide new way to better address the technological and economical challenges of today.


    Dr Xinjian Zhou

    Bio: Dr Xinjian Zhou, Vice President of Beijing Institute of Collaborative Innovation (BICI) and President of BICI USA, Director of BICI London. Dr Zhou received his B.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from Peking University and Cornell University, respectively. Before joining BICI, Dr Zhou has worked in product development and system engineering as Senior/Staff Engineer at ASML, technology scouting and investment as Venture Manager at Technology-To-Business (TTB) center of Siemens, and technology transfer as BD director at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center(PARC).

    周新建,北京协同创新研究院副院长,美国分院院长,英国分院董事。先后在北京大学和康奈尔大学获得了物理学学士和博士学位。加入协同院之前,曾在ASML做产品开发和系统工程,并曾在西门子TTB中心作风险技术投资经理负责技术开拓及投资,以及在Xerox Palo Alto Research Center作业务拓展总监负责技术转移。

    Professor Christina Hughes

    Bio: Christina is a Professor of Women and Gender Studies and Founder and CEO of Women-Space Leadership Limited. She has previously held executive roles at the University of Warwick (Pro-Vice-Chancellor), Sheffield Hallam University (Provost) and University of Kent (Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor). Christina also holds an Honorary Professorship at the University of Kent and a Visiting Professorship at Coventry University. She is a member of the Board of Governors at Leeds Beckett University, and a Trustee of Villiers Park Educational Trust. Christina has published over 15 academic texts. Her latest book, coming out at the end of this year, is International Perspectives of Leadership in Higher Education. She is currently working on the Routledge International Handbook of Transdisciplinary Feminist Research to be published next year.
