Atos Launches 2020 Million Makers Challenge

On Saturday 1 August, the Atos Million Makers team, Team Empower, launched the Million Makers challenge for 2020.

Million Makers is an annual Dragons’ Den style fundraising competition with teams of employees from companies across the UK competing to raise funds over a 6 month period for The Prince’s Trust.

The COVID-19 health crisis has created new challenges for many, including charities. Young people have also been significantly affected by COVID-19; a recent report by The Prince’s Trust found that 46% of young people say that finding a job during this period has been “impossible” and 43% of young people say that their anxiety has increased due to the pandemic. Atos has been a trusted partner to The Prince’s Trust for over 11 years, raising over £2 million for their critical work during this period. With this money, The Trust has been able to help over 195,000 people across the UK. They truly are an advocate for young people and need our support now more than ever.

COVID-19 has also changed the scope of this year’s competition as some of Million Makers’ in person fundraising events are unable to take place. However, this has created a unique opportunity to produce new, innovative digital fundraising strategies. Team Empower therefore aim to use the Million Makers competition as an opportunity to harness Atos’ IT capabilities, enhance employee experience by targeting all employees across the UK in digital events, and continue our partnership with The Prince’s Trust at clearly what is a challenging time for all. So far, the team have raised 98% of their initial goal for The Prince’s Trust through a social media campaign, e-gaming tournament and sporting challenge.
