Unlike Undergraduate degree fees, the tuition and registration fee for our standard Foundation course is dependent on your age on 31 August of the year that your course commences and whether you’re a UK or EU/International Student.

The International Foundation Diploma course has a single fee payable by all students on the course.

If you're under 19 and a new student, you won't have to pay tuition fees or a registration fee. For new students over the age of 19, the tuition fee for the course in 2024/25 will be £5,421 (full-time) per annum.

Student Loans

  • If you're under 19 you won't be eligible for a student loan as this course is classified as further education.
  • If you're 19 and over you may be able to apply for a loan to fund these fees and there are no upfront tuition fees to pay for these students. This could be funded by Advanced Learning Loans, information can be found on the GOV.UK website.

Please be aware there's no maintenance loan available for Further Education Applicants. The Advanced Learner Loan will only cover tuition fees.

If you're ordinarily a resident of Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, we may ask for further information regarding your intention to study in England as you may not be able to secure funding to undertake this course.

Foundation (in excess of £1,500) students – Progression discount

  • May be eligible to receive a 10% tuition fee discount when progressing to MA

16-19 Bursary Fund and Learner Support Fund

If you've lived in the UK for at least 3 years, The 16-19 Bursary Fund and the Learner Support Fund may be able to support you whilst you study.

The 16-19 Bursary Fund and the Learner Support Fund for students over 19. All sources of funding are based upon your household income. Please note that funds are limited and eligibility does not guarantee that funding will be available.

Channel Islands and Isle of Man

Students from the Islands are subject to different funding arrangements and support to mainland UK students.

Guernsey

The state of Guernsey offers higher education student grants to help with the cost of tuition fees, living and travel. The amount of funding available depends on a number of factors – including an assessment of your parents’ income.

Bursaries may also be available to independent students who have no support from parents. To find out more, please visit the Guernsey Government website.

Jersey

The state of Jersey offers funding for higher education students to help with living costs and tuition fees. The amount of funding available depends on an assessment of your parents’ incomes or, if you’re an independent student, your own household income.

The amount of funding you can receive for tuition fees also depends on what type of course you’re taking and where you’re taking it. Find out more on the Jersey Government website.

Isle of Man

Students from the Isle of Man are not eligible for a loan from the UK Student Loans Company, but the Isle of Man government offers higher education students a grand (Student Award) to help with living cost and tuition.

The amount of funding you can receive is dependent on your parents’ incomes or, if you’re an independent student, your own household income, as well as the type of course you're taking and where you're taking it. Find out more on the Isle of Man Government website.

Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales

If you normally live in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, you can follow the links below to find out what funding support is available to you.

The support available varies, so it’s important that you check the correct country.

Northern Ireland

Students who normally live in Northern Ireland may receive financial support for university from the Northern Ireland Executive.

Scotland

Students who normally live in Scotland may receive financial support for university from the Scottish Government.

Wales

Students who normally live in Wales may receive financial support for university from the Welsh Assembly Government.

International/EU

If you are unsure whether you should be classed as an ‘International/EU’ or a ‘Home’ student, please complete and return the fees assessment form. Further advice on fee status can also be found on the UKCISA website.

International Scholarships

We aim to have a diverse student environment with the best creative talent in the UK and have several bursaries and scholarships available. These are awarded for every year of your course, giving you financial support throughout your time studying with us. International Loans

American students are eligible to apply to the US Department of Education’s Direct Loans Programme as Arts University Bournemouth has been authorised to certify applications. Full details of this can be found in Loans for American Students. Please note, the loan is not available to International Foundation Diploma applicants.

Norwegian students are eligible for financial support from The Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund, administered by Lanekassen, which provides student loans and stipends for higher education. Arts University Bournemouth is on the list of UK institutions where students are eligible for supplementary funding (Tilleggsstipend). Icelandic students can borrow loans via The Icelandic Student Loan Fund (LÍN). Visit the LÍN website for more information about Icelandic student loans.

Loans for American Students

Students from America will be pleased to know that United States Federal Loans are available for you to study at Arts University Bournemouth, just as they would be if you were studying in the US as AUB has been authorised to certify applications. Please note, the loan is not available to International Foundation Diploma applicants.

How to pay your fees

To make things as easy as possible for you, we have two online payment gateways to help you pay any outstanding fees.

You can use a variety of different methods including:

  • The student’s date of birth
  • Your account/card details

EU and EEA nationals starting a course after 1 August 2021

The majority of students from the EU and EEA will be assessed as ‘International (overseas)’ fee payers. The exceptions to this will be if you have protected rights under the EU Withdrawal Agreement, the EEA EFTA Separation Agreement, or the Swiss Citizens’ Rights Agreement and you meet the relevant residency requirements.
