We’re very excited about BCD’s booking system and the resulting formation of groups in BCD courses, groups of people consciously committed to their love of dancing and learning, improving and exploring their selves, bodies and limits!

According to Berlin Contemporary Dance’s booking system, class bookings are organised into three categories:

 Subscriptions
 Flexible Packages
 Single-class bookings

In order to encourage the engagement of groups in BCD’s weekly courses and therefore support the learning process and BCD’s educational character, participants can book BCD classes either with a subscription plan, or with a flexible package. Single-class bookings are possible too, for first-comers and rare visitors.

There’s two possible payment methods:

  • BCD payersparticipants that pay BCD directly
  • USC payersBCD participants that use their USC membership to pay for their BCD bookings.

No matter the payment method, participants need to make a choice of whether they want to commit to participate every week in a BCD weekly course, or if they prefer to participate less regularly or more flexibly. Learning and acquiring skills comes with a level of commitment and consistency, therefore BCD’s booking system is designed to encourage weekly participation without excluding, though, irregular, flexible and rare participation.

Each participation option has its own fees and accompanying features, such as booking limits, replacement limit, cancellation policy and no-show policy.

PROFESSIONAL Contemporary dancers are NOT subject to BCD’s booking system: they can book as they like!

Discounts only for professional Contemporary dancers and Contemporary dance students, with proof:

  • single-class ticket for 9€
  • 10-class card for 80€, valid for 3 months
They can be used for any BCD course!

Participation Options

For each level of commitment or flexibility chosen there are different participation options to choose from, in order to organise one’s participation to BCD weekly courses according to their needs.

SUBSCRIPTIONS
For those who choose to commit weekly and invest their time learning Floorwork and acrobatic Contemporary Dance in depth, there are different subscription plans, starting from only 1 month, or for 2 months, 3 months, 6 months or yearly (for 11 months).

FLEXIBLE PACKAGES
For those who need more flexibility there are flexible packages. They are offered only to BCD payers, L and XL USC members.

SINGLE-CLASSES
For first-comers and rare visitors there are different single-class booking options. These are offered to everyone, regardless of their payment method: BCD payers can book a single class without limits, while USC members (M, L or XL) are limited to taking 3 classes per 2 months by booking single classes via USC.

The USCbooking limit

BCD’s booking system and terms & conditions of participation take effect anew on the beginning of each academic year. From 25.8.23, beginning of the 2023-24 academic year, the USC booking limit takes effect: Participants’ SINGLE class bookings via USC are only valid until they participate to any 3 BCD classes per 2 months. Exceeding this limit leads to a CANCELLATION of a SINGLE class booking via USC. (This can NOT activate late cancellation fees applied by USC.)

The aforementioned USC booking limit refers only to booking SINGLE classes via USC. This does not mean that USC members cannot become subscribers or flexible package holders: they can! The limit to booking single classes via USC is necessary, to allow available spots to primarily be taken by the course’s regulars (subscribers), instead of being available on a fist-come-first-serve basis. This is exactly what allows the formation of groups of regulars in BCD courses and therefore also allows the courses to be advancing, as well as the regulars to improve and learn effectively. USC is based on always booking single sessions of any kind. One of the results, though, is very irregular participation. Unfortunately the irregularity of participation works against the quality of BCD’s educational offer. USC members are very welcome, they are simply asked to make a choice.

SUBSCRIPTIONPLANS

What it is

Participants with a BCD subscription plan always have a spot reserved at the weekly course they subscribe to (eg every Thursday) for as long as they are subscribed! They can replace classes they know they’ll miss in advance, each subscription plan has its own replacement limit for example with a yearly subscription there’s 4 possible replacements per 3 months.

How to pay

Both payment methodsBCD payers and USC payers can be used to book any BCD subscription plan. When there’s fees involved, they are usually charged monthly.

Until when do I commit

Each subscription plan has a set duration. Subscribers commit for the duration of their chosen subscription plan. Cancelling a subscription plan before its end is possible, a different cancellation policy per subscription plan applies. Switching to a different subscription plan after a current one finishes is also possible.

BCD’s academic year lasts 11 months, from the end of August until July. All subscription plans END latest at the end of the academic year in July! That also defines when they can START; for example, a yearly subscription can only start in September, while a 6-month subscription plan can start latest in February.

The different BCD subscription plans are

  • YEARLY subscription: September to July
  • 6-month subscription
  • 3-month subscription
  • 2-month subscription
  • 1-month subscription

Each subscription plan has its own:

  • validity period (duration, start and end)
  • monthly fees and billing cycle
  • cancellation policy
  • class replacement limit
  • no-show limit

Billing

  • All subscription plans are billed monthly.
  • Yearly and 6-month subscription plans are billed monthly from the 1st of a calendar month, while 3-, 2- and 1-month subscription plans can start anytime.
  • Subscription plans of 1, 2 and 3 months are equivalent to packages that offer to subscribers exactly 4, 8 and 12 consecutive classes of the weekly course they subscribe to respectively. Classes that don’t take place are not charged.

Start of a subscription plan

Despite the fact that yearly and 6-month subscription plans are billed from the 1st of a calendar month, participants are welcome to adjust the starting date of their chosen subscription plan by adding from one to three single classes before the 1st of the month. Additional subscription classes can only be connected consecutively to the subscription plan. For example, a yearly subscription lasts from September to July, but the last class of August can be added to the subscription plan if wanted. In the same way, 1 to 3 additional subscription classes can be added consecutively to a subscription’s end.

Performance Project2024

In 2024 BCD is going to present the Performance Project 2024, the ultimate event of BCD’s year!
BCD loves to offer the chance to participants to experience performing in front of a public. It’s an invaluable experience both educationally and artistically for participants! The experience of being in the moment with our full self, body and soul, emotions and technique, challenging our limits, finding true expression inside a given frame, it’s all part of PERFORMING and it offers more than classes can. The bonding of the group of performers is crucial, as well as their time together in class.

BCD undertakes the whole creation and production process of the performance project. Together with BCD’s teachers, who will choreograph, and the subscribers, who will perform, all INTERMEDIATE courses will present a contemporary dance piece in BCD’s Performance Project 2024.

The performances are planned to take place in MAY 2024. As a result, for the months MARCH, APRIL and until the Performance Project will take place in MAY, all intermediate courses will be CLOSED. For this period the classes are to be taken only by the course’s subscribers, who will perform in May.

For this reason NO subscriptions to intermediate courses are possible that end between March and May.

To ensure a smooth organisation, it’s important that between March and May 2024 there are no subscription terminations. If a possible cancellation from a subscriber terminates their subscription plan between 1.3.24 and 31.5.24, they will be charged a Performance Project cancellation fee of 100€ and won’t be allowed to any subscription class held in that period.

Participation in the Performance Project 2024 does not come at no extra cost. The cost will be estimated and announced by the end of December 2023 to all BCD subscribers involved.

FLEXIBLEPACKAGES

If you need more flexibility or prefer a rather irregular participation, there’s a flexible package available per payment method (USC M excluded).

  • BCD payers have two choices: a 5- or 10-class. 5-class cards are valid for 3 months from their purchase date, while 10-class cards are valid for 6 months from their purchase. If for some reason you can’t or don’t want to use any leftover credits in your card, you can offer them to a friend. Cancellation policy of 24 hours in advance applies per booking. You can’t cancel your class card before its end.
  • USC L or XL members may purchase the “Flexi 8” package anytime and flexibly book EXACTLY 8 single classes of any combination of BCD courses within 31 days from their purchase! They have to check-in via their USC membership to pay for their bookings, otherwise they have to pay 11€ per booking. Rescheduling of bookings is possible, as long as the cancellation of a booking happens 24 hours in advance or more. A booking cannot be rescheduled when it’s cancelled less than 24 hours in advance. A booking that’s cancelled less than 12 hours in advance is marked as NO-SHOW. The same happens when the participant doesn’t show up for a booking. BCD no-show policy of 3 no-shows applies: From the 3rd no-show and for each further no-show you are charged 15€. You can’t cancel your Flexi 8 before its end.
