***4.5 Stars***

I enjoyed Power House, the first book in the series. The concept was cool and the characters all fascinated me in one way or another, but it didn’t give that gut punch I wanted, so I was a bit hesitant to dive into Power Player, but I shouldn’t have worried because I thoroughly enjoyed it! It had it’s OTT WTF?!? Moments, but it all just worked for me. All the craycray, smexy, sweet, and WTF moments just worked and made it a fun read.

Laurel I kinda adored. She’s got a lot of fire in her and boy does she give as good as she gets. Pax took me a little bit to truly warm up to him. He’s alpha AF but has a golden heart, even if he doesn’t always see it. Their journey to their HEA is an interesting one. There are quite a few twisty things involved, a good dose of angst as well as smexyness as they collide and attempt to figure things out, but in the end it all worked. Everything made sense in the context that was the crazy connection between the two of them and I loved how things worked out for them.

This was a fun read. The writing was engaging, well paced and I enjoyed the dual 1st person POV’s. I thought that all of the issues that sprung up in this one were well thought out and dealt with in the end. There was one thing that had me scratching my head, but it’s a minor thing as far as the big picture is concerned. And as for the two remaining Power Chain males? I’m definitely looking forward to seeing just how crazy things get when they find the woman that will bring them to their knees!

Book 2 was just as good as book 1. This had some added angst, some more drama, and the dynamic foursome. Being this is Paxton’s book you do get more of the growing up background for Pax and some of Dane. Another really good take to the PowerChain series. The next one is due out August 7

Four boys.
One game that changed everything.
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
None of these boys were weak. Go back to where it all began.
Welcome to the Power Chain, the underworld built on an unbreakable bond.

Holy SHIT people!

Book 2 was just as good as book 1. This novel however, did have some added angst, some more drama, and the dynamic foursome. The plot was really good! Not getting into the background unless the character has his own book is genius. You get the point that these 4 men have great loyalty to one another even if they don't approve of their profession or their role in the foursome. VERY interesting.

You will get a little more involved in why Pax loves Dane but also why they hate each other. No spoilers but when a friend is heated I need to ask = How much do you need to love your friend to let him punch the shit outta you? That is loyalty! Loyalty is what you expect from friends who know the real you. Paxton and Onyx show real loyalty, the meaning of friendship and family.

They will hurt you with the truth all the time. Nobody realizes this more than Laurel! The Riley character had me so up in angst. He was a complete screw up, but she stood beside him even when he did the dumbest thing anyone could do. I want to spill what the dumb thing was but....it was GOOD and it is too good to spoil. You just have to read this and let your jaw drop! The authors did a great job at creating Riley in a way that made you love him. I was thinking he is the dumbest but you have to love way he has faith, yes faith that is so innocent in a refreshing way.

Being this is Paxton’s book you do get more of the growing up background for Pax and some of Dane. The past is what created him, so it is deep. Another really good novel in the Power Chain series. The next one is due out August 7 and it is Dane up at bat. That is going to be huge for me. what I like about Dane is that he is a silent fixer.

How many ways could a reader love the twisted mind of Paxton Williams? About a million and one! This man is seriously messed up, or so the authors would have you think. And you do question his sanity when it comes to his obsession with Laurel Conrad. Instead of going to her, laying it all out to her about what is going down, he instead comes up with an evil sinister plan to get what he wants. But what the reader comes to realize as the story unfolds is not his crazy train devious actions but the pure love he has for this woman to go to such great lengths.

Because of Pax's past history with Laurel, she questions his actions. She knows there is a strong pull and for some reason he won't let her move on with her life. One of the best qualities these two authors have is their shared passion for writing strong women. Laurel is no pushover and doesn't take Pax's nefarious plan without a fight. I loved the chemistry this couple had, damaged and intense it leaped off the pages.

This was another amazing read by Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele. Pure magic happens when these two brilliant authors write together!

(4.5 stars)

Laurel and Paxton were almost a couple when they were teens, but Paxton pushed her away thinking she deserved better than him. Here they are 10 years later and while they have never become anything more than what they were, Paxton has never left Laurel alone. Everywhere she turns there he is, keeping an eye on her. Until one day, he does something that results in her hunting him down and pointing a gun at him. It doesn’t quite go as she planned though when she ends up literally being picked up and whisked away to be locked in his cabin in the woods. Why has Paxton chosen now to be with her and why has he gone about it in the way he has?

Like with book one, Power Player starts off with me not really liking the guy. The way Paxton went about getting Laurel with him was a bit high handed and at times, felt a little uncomfortable. But, again like with book one, Paxton obviously had his reasons for doing what he does and when the why comes to light it makes it all seem a hell of a lot better. I’m really enjoying this series so far. Action, drama, sexy times and this writing duo really drag the reader into their stories. I give Power Player 4.5 stars and I can’t wait for the next one.

This was tough-but the general consensus I’ve found while reading reviews was that it would be more impactful if I had a chance to read the rest of the books in this series. It was tough connecting with the characters, but a bit of seeing them in the background may have helped.
The book starts off like a whirlwind-I absolutely adored the first chapter and thought this to be a very strong book right off the rip. My thoughts were quickly ripped away as the main character-turned completely evil. I didn’t like how he treated Laurel, and it was tough to ever come back from my dislike of him. Laurel came off as trying to be overly independent and for me it got borderline annoying. Though by the end of the book the peices started to fall in the right place as far as character personalities, it was not enough for me to forget how much I couldn’t get into them during a majority of the book. The ending does allude to another book, and I would be anxious to read as I know am familiar with some of the other background characters. Though I couldn’t personally be won over by Pax and Laurel-doesn’t mean that you can’t be. - By Victoria

It was another crazy adventure into the anti-hero's lives and world. I could not put this book down. I am enjoying this series that Ryan and Chelsea created. It's dark but powerful. The four corners, as I like to call them, have this power unique to each man. They balance the four corners keeping everything in their world harmonious.

Paxton is next in line to take what he wants. He has known for a long time who he would take and own as his... forever. The only problem is, the thing he loves most, her fire, is also the thing that will burn him. Watching this strong man succumb to the fate that he can bend was fantastic. Paxton was meticulous in calculating everything, and yet he couldn't count on his calculations of Laurel. I felt like Paxton was even more of a hot-head than Onyx and that's saying something. When push came to shove and reality slapped him in the face, he has to decide if bending to a woman is worth it.

Laurel is fire. She doesn't back down even in the face of fear and danger. I loved the spark and tenacity she had for taking matters into her own hands. She didn't put up with Paxton and his games. Her history with him definitely tugged on this reader's heartstrings. She was so brave to try and give to Paxton again. Putting your heart on the line is not an easy task. When the fire gets hot, she must decide if Paxton is going to walk through the flames with her, or if she will forge her own path.

Ellen Sue is an awesome side character. Can we take a minute to appreciate this woman that was created? We get to see more of her personality, love, loyalty, and strength. This kinda makes me want to have an epilogue at the very end from her perspective. She is one of my all-time favorite secondary characters for sure.

The plot in this story continues from the first to a degree. You don't need to read PowerHouse to follow along with this one, but it helps. The arc of Laurel and Paxton is closed up in a way that has surprises coming out of every corner. They are concluded and you do get a content feeling at the end.

There is so much I want to talk about but don't want to spoil. The cabin, made my heart swoon and melt. Seriously did. The ending at the apartment... totally felt the moment and impact it was meant to have. The very end with Dane! Yeah, I'd love to know what was said there.

I know that this review seems cryptic, but there are secrets each reader of Power Play must keep. We can't ruin it for others. There are so many truths and discoveries to be made, that spoiling it would be unfair to you, the next reader. With that said, this reader gives it 5 pointe shoes. It's a fabulous continuation of the series and while the original means to get the girl were similar, the stories were vastly different.

OK, let me be clear about one thing, I'd pretty much read the grocery list written by these two ladies. I'm pretty much addicted to their motorcycle club books and thought that was about the sexiest version of an anti-hero ever but they take it over the top in the Powerchain series.

Paxton and Laurel are like magnets, an intense drawing force exists between them and has since high school but just like magnets, one flip in the wrong direction can repel them just as powerfully. He knows he can't be with her but he can't stand being without her. He leaves to protect her and give her a life free of danger but when danger comes to her door anyway, he'll go to incredible lengths to protect her, even some she'll hate him for.

As with the first book Power House, this book starts off
gritty and with Paxton fairly unlikable but that's what an anti-hero is, unlikable, right? His unlikable status didn't linger long for me as I just understood him early on (much more than Onyx, who I was still a little on the fence about at the end of book one), I just understood his struggle with trying to do what he believes is the right thing but being crippled by his emotions. Laurel was awesome from the start. A spunky little spitfire, I loved that she gave him hell. She definitely held her own but there was something special about her. I know this might sound strange given the heat of these types of books but there is an innocence to their relationship that was captivating, I suspect it stems from those unresolved yet intense emotions left over from their tender age love story but either way it was beautiful!

Loved the second book in the Powerchain series and can't wait to see the women that Michele and Camaron come up with for our last two heroes, Dane and Garrett. I've always loved fireworks!

5 Stars!

Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele are back with this explosive, sexy, suspenseful, twisted Power Chain series... delivering a powerful, dark, and intense romance that is going to left me on the edge of my seat and had my heart about to beat out of my chest. I loved every moment these authors wrote in Power Player and Paxton was everything I expected him to be in the most unforgettable and undeniable ways.

He's a man who knows what and who he wants...and that's her. He's denied himself, not tainting her with his dark world but danger is lurking and now he's taking. She's stubborn, independent, feisty, and completely irresistible. He'll do whatever it takes, no limits necessary to make her his...even if she fights him to protect her heart.

All of the emotions in the very best (and worst) ways with loads of angsty, page gripping times... Paxton and Laurel are going to make you feel every single step of their journey. The heat between them is scorching and the attraction is magnetic and undeniable. You'll love to hate him on every page and he'll never leave your mind.

I can't wait for the next book and totally recommend you read books# #0.5 and #1 before Paxton's. If you like your books darker, edgier, sexier, grittier, rawer...then you need to one click this series!

I highly recommend this book.

The men of this series are just WOW! Sexy, strong, faithful, and alpha. It is amazing that 4 men can all work together without stepping on each other toes. Together they run a business, have each other’s backs, and stay out of each other’s ways until they are needed. Theirs is a friendship that is just so strong, so tough, and so loving.

Onto Paxton… oh Paxton, you could do so many things differently but your way is what makes sense to you. You’re tough, I’m the boss, no question allowed way is what you need to prove that you are in control of your life and those you want in it. Fortunately, Laurel would expect nothing less from you. She has been in your life forever and you need her to stay there. While I didn’t agree with the way he treated Laurel is was easy to see that it was all done in love. There was never a doubt that he would never hurt her or let anyone else hurt her.

Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele are writing a series of books that do not have to be read in order. They can be picked up in whatever order you want to read them. My recommendation is to read them, read them in any order but make sure you read them all. This is book two and I’ve already read book one. I’m excited and anxious for book three.

Wow! Power Player is a fast paced emotional rollercoaster. Paxton is a hard man who still has an emotionally scarred boy inside. The "business" that he and his best friends run requires the hard ruthless man. However, there is Laurel, who has always calmed and comforted the boy inside. Laurel's childhood was hard like Paxton's, so she is a strong but she also grew into a loving nurturing woman. They are each other's safe place....but as usual past insecurities try to block their way to happiness. Then Paxton's risky business with the mob collides with Laurel's brother. Laurel gets caught in the middle. Laurel and Paxton have to learn to trust themselves and each other in order to survive.
I loved this story and devoured it in a day! I can't wait for the next power player!

Power Player by Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele is the second book in the Anti-Hero Game: Power Chain Series.
Power Player can be read as a standalone. For better understanding I recommend to read the first book, Power House, first. Power House is Onyx and Torryn´s story.
Laurel Conrad has the day from hell. All her accounts were closed and she´s broke. All thank to Paxton Williams . Paxton is a acoountant and " brother " of Onyx, Garret and Dane. Together they´re in some shady business and he decided to make Laurel his in typical alpha neanderthal fashion. Laurel isn´t amused at all. But how long can she witstand his magnetical charme? I use the term charme losely. He rude, crude and obsessive to the point of kidnapping.
Power Player is a powerful story full of twists and turns and kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time. I give 4 stars.

Laurel has had the day from hell all due to Paxton who obsessively keeps tabs on her. He has kidnapped her telling her that she is his and must come to terms with his controlling possessive ways. She soon learns that there is more to this than even she can imagine. They must now fight for their love and lives. Great story so full of action that you can't put it down. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Pax has loved Laurel for years. You could even say they were a fledgling couple in their teens, until Pax broke her heart by pushing her away, so she could find someone more worthy of her affection. Years later Laurel still loves Pax, she stayed away, knows he has control issues and can be overbearing, he’s now also a powerful man and she can now add obsessive to his list of faults, and staying away from the man has become impossible.
What a real wild ride, Pax and Laurel had a fight on their hands, it is a love story, they just needed to be reminded. A great story, I loved it!

Another amazing book in this series, they just keep getting better. Pax could be crude, but underneath it all you could see the love he felt for Laurel. Laurel may have thought she had her heart closed off to him but he got past it. I can't say much more or I will give it all away and I don't want that. This was a great book with love, passion, action and plenty of angst. I can't wait for the next one.

Laurel has quite a temper on her, “you’re everything evil, Paxton Williams, and I’m no effing angel.” Pax could be a crude man and didn't I love it, “awe. Don’t you worry, angel. All this,” he grabbed his junk, “Belongs only to you." It's good to know Pax has some boundaries, "I kept the sheet over my ***k because no one wanted to have their junk out with two other men in the room no matter how proud I was of my ***k." Each book in this series gets better and better, and I get more excited about the next book to come in this series.

Pax is controlling, overbearing, powerful and obsessive. He has been in love with Laurel for years, since he first saw her. Laurel thinks she has life under control until Pax takes all her control away. Laurel has loved Pax for years, she knows he has controlling issues so she stays away after he broke her heart. What a crazy story these two take u on, it's definitely not ur typical love story

I adored everything about this book. I loved Laurel and her strong feminine personality. And Paxton, although a very alpha male person showed a lot of his sweet teddy bear side. The storyline was good and I enjoyed the ending hinting towards the next book.

This is the second book in the Powerchain series and it is Paxton, and Torryn's story. I have to admit the first one with Onyx is still my favorite. You can kind of call this a second chance romance. I just didn't get Paxton. He was so wishy washy. I mean these men are supposed to be alphas and know what they want but he just wet back and forth one too many times for me. I loved how the ending happen althought I had no love for Torryn's brother Riley. Still a good reads. Lots of apha males. Hope the next hero is better.

I need to start with this being book two in The Power Chains series. There is a novella as well where you get to meet the men. I need to also say that I read practically everything written by this writing duo. I absolutely love them. The write great alpha men. I read book one and loved it. I have to say that I had such a hard time with this book and it saddens me to say so. This book has some dark themes but not over the top.

We have Laurel who I thought would be a great heroine. She has a strong personality and had so much potential. She has had a hard life and was friends with Paxton for a long while. She has a brother who loves her just as much as she loves him. They are all they have. She fell in love with Paxton and was hurt by him. She has a job she isn't thrilled about and nice little nest egg saved up.

Then you have Paxton who is the epitome of an alpha male. He is possessive, dominant and archaic at the same time. He has three other good friends and business partners in a business that teeters on the edge of illegal. Who am I kidding it is illegal. He feeds on fear and intimidation. He gets off on it.

Paxton broke her heart and hasn't looked back. Though he wants her to move on he won’t let her truly go. He follows her around like he is her shadow. He wants her begging and he wants her submission. When she comes home from a night with her girlfriends she turns him down flat and runs after a shared hot kiss. Their passion for each other is hot and thick. You can feel it. I felt it. Then out of nowhere she is on her way to work and her cards are declined and all her bank accounts have been emptied. With nothing else to do, she confronts Paxton and that is exactly what he wanted. Her to need him.

What I could not handle, was him. He was an ass and I was so angry with him from the get-go. I could not find it in my heart to like him. AT ALL. I don't care what his reasons were. He was a horrible man. He kidnaps her and no one but her brother questions it. Then you have Laurel. What the hell was she thinking? She has no self-respect. After everything he has done to her through this ordeal, she accepts it. I wanted to throw my kindle I can’t tell you how many times.

Now, to the secondary people. No, just no. I did not like Garrett at all as well. Ellen Sue is still on my bad side I don’t know if I will ever like her. I did not like her in book one either. She condones this horrible and deplorable behavior from Paxton. I don't know what she will be like to come but I want to see if I can actually grow to like her. Now, Laurel’s friends weren’t in it enough. I would have liked to see her relationship with her friends

With all of that, I will read more of this series. There are two more books and I loved book one as I said. I just could not handle the dynamic between this couple. I wanted to slap them both. Though Paxton I wanted to punch him, There was no redeeming him for me. also, want to state that the writing is good as is the pace. I just could not identify with this pairing and that breaks my heart. I have every faith in them that I will enjoy the next one.

Power Player by Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele
I received this book from the authors for an honest review.
When the last book ended we see the beginning of Pax and Laurel. Just that final scene alone tells us their relationship will be volatile in the best of ways!! I mean to show up waving a gun at the man you love…that shows passion, right????
Pax has loved Laurel as long as he can remember. She never looks down on him for being an orphan and has always been the light to his dark world. When his underworld dealings come crashing into her life, he does all he can to protect and FINALLY Claim what is his….HER!
Laurel has loved Pax as long as she can remember but his hot and cold plus the shredding her young heart has always made her heart guarded when he is near. When Pax takes all of her money and kidnaps her, she is none to thrilled even IF she is 110% in love with him.
The dynamic of the two is awesome to read. They both keep each other totally honest and open even when they don’t want to admit what they are feeling. When Laurel learns of the danger she is in, she trusts Pax to keep her safe and even opens to heart to all the love she has for him.
Pax finally gets the girl of his dreams to FREAK OUT but gotta love Laurel for not letting him back to quickly. She is going to make sure he knows she is in control even after everything he did to her and for her.
The build up for Dane’s books had me very interested in seeing what our favorite assassin has going on to make his cool demeanor all stressed out.

This power house duo messes with my head in the best way possible with their brilliant writing styles & special brand of crazy that mesh perfectly together, which brings out my extreme emotions & my own special brand of crazy while reading. This is the second book this series, and while it's about a different couple, and can be read as a standalone, I'm completely & utterly biased, so I 100% recommend you read Power House (Book 1) first! There's even Power Chain (0.5) before that. Anyway, I digress into my crazy. Paxton Williams is straight up a douche when this story starts out, and I stayed as pissed at him as Laurel did, as his methods of wooing her (if you can call it that) were high handed, and frankly, quite douchey (Amazon won't let me call it what I really said throughout). He made me want to junk punch him over & over again for what he put her through, until about 60% in, but this is where I can't say anymore, because then this review would display spoiler douchery. Yeah, how he went about things still has me pissed as hell, but at that point, some understanding came to light. Which means that the Queens of dark & twisty had me dropping f-bombs along with the way to match my colorful metaphor name calling. And of course there was the very interesting cast of secondaries that I'm anxiously waiting to see how they will set off my rage with their alpha issues. Oh, and I almost forgot, at least these bad boys know how to set the sheets on fire during sexy times, and Pax is no exception. So, this is where I tell you to run, not walk, to the closest thing you use to one click, and get this book! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

**Received ARC for a fair and honest review**
Power Player is book 2 in the Power Chain series. This book could be read as a standalone, however I personally think it is best read in order since you miss a lot of backstory and the previous characters who are deeply entwined in the book. I would rate this book at 4.5 stars. It is a fast, intense read that was hard to put down. I really loved Laurel, that super strong woman type. She didn't just buckle/cave to Paxton's will. Paxton as a character, was more into games and winning and due to issues in his life seems very insecure and not as strong as Laurel IMO. Paxton's character is why I didn't give this book 5 stars. I loved the book.
Paxton has known Laurel and has had a thing for her since they were teens. But he didn't feel that he was good enough for her. As they years passed he settled for following Laurel around and what he felt was protecting her. When she blows him off, he doesn't take that well and decides he's going to do something about it. There's more to that but I'm not going to have any spoilers in this review.
As I said I loved Laurel, though Paxton was sort of frustrating for me. I loved the secondary characters. And you do get to see Onyx, though I wish you got more Torryn for an update to their story. There is good chemistry with the characters, this is a fun storyline which to me felt quite well developed. I like the way the stories flow into each other. Overall great, hot, fun, nail biting read! Can't wait for the next book in the series. Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!

Wow I shouldn't be surprised that Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele can create stories like these but just wow I am in love with this series. These books get better and better and I am absolutely hooked. I seem to always start out these books pissed off at the guy and thinking how is there any way I am going to like them but each time I fall in love with them along with the ladies. They take what they want, protect what is their's and make no excuses and don't back down. The more you read into their story the more background and understanding you get of why they are doing what they are doing and you just can't help but to be completely engrossed into their story.

Paxton and Laurel have history together. They can't be near each other and not feel the connection they have but that connection comes with reminders of the hurts caused in the past. Paxton knows that she deserves someone better, someone with a normal, safe career but he just can't stay away. Laurel has so much hurt from the last time they were together and now with how they are together now that she isn't willing to let down her walls. Let's not forget all the questions that keep arising.

As compelling as the story about their past and present is, that isn't all this story is about and let me tell you it was so good. More and more happens and I you won't want to put it down. I highly recommend this series and can't wait for the next one to come out!!!

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
I am enjoying this series. It is a new concept that is intriguing to me. Bad boys and feisty women.
Laurel Conrad and Paxton Williams have a volatile relationship. After seeing Laurel bust in to a room putting a gun to Paxton you know this is gonna be a good one. Laurel and Paxton were friends a kids and Laurel gave him her heart. But when he ran because he thought she deserved better he crushed her. Now is the time for Paxton to take what is his.
Laurel has a fire like no one else. She will not back down or give in. however, no matter how strong willed Laurel is Paxton knows her too well and cannot one-up him. I absolutely love her spunk and tenacity it keeps Paxton on his toes. He has to in this game of chess he is playing. I loved seeing the things Paxton did for Laurel. Yes, he did kidnap her but the cabin and all the thought that went into it made my heart flutter.
Not only do I love the guys of this series but the women are pretty awesome too. Ellen Sue is amazing her loyalty to the guys is like no other. I enjoyed getting to know more of her and see more of her personality. I have to say Onyx and Paxton knew what they wanted and they took it literally. I have to say I didn’t like them in the beginning of either book but by the end they grew on me and I loved them. I cannot wait to see what Dane and Garrett hold in store for us. I am sure it will be good.

4.5 Stars

POWER PLAYER was freaking awesome! I had moments that made me question what the hades Paxton was thinking for making the play that he did and why, but I knew if I continued to read I would find it. And I totally did! It was a very convoluted circle of WTH and WTF at times, but again, there is method to the madness that eventually made sense.

I wasn’t really sure about Laurel. She just didn’t seem to be a strong character, but then she got her back up and BAM! There was the sass and attitude that would definitely appeal to Pax’s character in every way. I really started to warm up to her and she quickly became a character that I got emotionally invested in. There were tears and laughter while I read the story. The twists and turns were not what I expected, but I thoroughly enjoyed how they mixed in with the storyline.

POWER PLAYER was an awesome read and something that I have come to expect from Ryan Michele and Chelsea Camaron. There are secrets and hidden depths mixed in with the story of romance. The men of the Power Chain series are alpha to the max, but the women are not weak and are definitely a match for the men that they choose. I can’t wait to see what is in store for the remaining men!

I was really looking forward to reading Power Player given the way book one left us hanging.....it was just getting interesting.

So I am sad to say this one wasn't one I enjoyed as much as their other works.

I actually like both characters in Power player, although they both frustrated me at the same time. I enjoyed the fact the authors sucked me into wanting to scream and shout both characters. This is a sign of well written characters.

The things that probably were a little bit of let down for me.

Overall, I did enjoy the book. Hence the rating I have given it. 3.5 stars is still a good rating for me. I have read both authors separately and combined. They do a great job. Power player just wasn't one I loved as much as their previous work.

Excited to see where the next one leads.
