The measurement and reporting of social value across construction projects is disparate and inconsistent. Could this be the reason for the disconnect between the social value outcomes we know are being delivered and those that the public know about and can recall after projects are completed?

Half of our survey respondents could not recall any benefits delivered by construction projects at any time, in their local area.

Following a nationwide study where we asked 2,000 adults across the UK what impact they think construction projects have on their communities and what benefits public sector projects should prioritise. this report sets out our recommendations for improving this. Together, we believe the industry can create and effectively communicate a more holistic picture of the total social value generated for communities, and the improvements we've made to people's lives and life chances.

Together, we're committed to doing right by the public sector and by the community.

Construction can and should be a vehicle for positive change. Creating positive, lasting, sustainable social value outcomes is just one of the ways this can be achieved.
