CALL FOR THE SPECIAL ISSUES

PATT38: 27th – 30th April 2021

***PATT38 Pupils’ Attitudes Toward Technology — Conference from Finland***

***Technology in our Hands. Creative Pedagogy and Ambitious Teacher Education.***

Thank you of being a part of the 38th Pupils’ Attitudes Toward Technology Conference hosted by the University of Turku!

PATT brings together researchers, authors and educators who work on technology education. It is one of the most significant events in its field. The PATT38 conference programme includes a local program offered by the University of Turku and speeches and presentations on the latest research results. As a result of the Covid-19 situation, the conference was held completely online via Zoom.

The future oriented conference was organized by the Department of Teacher Education from the Rauma Campus offering connections and presentations from among the scientific PATT-community experts and international colleagues worldwide.

Beside the scientific program attendees had an opportunity to see hands-on work in workshops and makerspaces as well as meet student teachers and teacher educators especially from the discipline of Craft, Design and Technology Education (CDTE). See the research themes and recent articles of CDTE here. The virtual visit to the Rauma Teacher Training School was an unique chance to experience the Finnish comprehensive education and the training school system.

The theme of the conference “Technology in our Hands – Creative Pedagogy and Ambitious Teacher Education” highlights the contemporary view of human cognition being ultimately based on
bodily experiences. In technology education this implies the acknowledgement of the importance of physical objects, experiences and activities in the creation and application of technology.
A precondition for high level technology education is ambitious teacher education.

It was truly a pleasure to have you at the PATT38 Conference!
