I have been listening to the Audiobooks in the NSB series and each and every single one has been brilliant. The characters are full of scares and pull you into their world. The narration has been superb. But Limelight, my god, this book, WOW. Alyson .. this book is so well written, it made me cry. And my god, Zachary Webber. The Narrator. Truly the best book I have even listened too. Well done to you both. Limelight is book 4 in the series, but can be a standalone. Highly recommend reading the series to get the most from the adventure of NSB crew.

Oh my word! What a rollercoaster of a ride this book is! Book 4 in the NSB series (which can be read as a standalone), sees Limelight’s front man Jesse Everett dealing with his past and the demons that haunt him. Having read the previous books in the series I already knew Jessie had a problem with drugs, what we learn throughout this story is why and how, and we get to see in his extremely complex mind. Not gonna lie, this story broke my heart, several times, I loved, hated and sympathised with so many of the characters. With faultless writing (in Alyson’s unique style) I was sucked into the world of Limelight, not always liking what I was faced with. Not an easy read in places, but a wonderfully addictive story nevertheless. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.

I love the NSB series as they are so much more than just stories about bad boy musicians. Alyson is not afraid to tackle the sensitive issues of addiction, mental health and the struggles that sufferers face. But she does so in such a manner that your heart just aches for them. In this book we meet Jesse, lead singer of Limelight and follow his journey (I hate to use that word as it makes me think of talent show sob stories) through some very real lows to an ultimate high (no pun intended!). Along the way he faces his demons, reconciles with, and loses people close to him. At times I wanted to slap him and at others I cried for him.
Limelight can be read as a standalone but check out the other NSB books, you won’t be disappointed.

I couldn't put this one down. This book is insanely good! Alyson pours a whole lot of truth into these pages. This is not your typical rock star romance, but definitely one you don't want to miss. Alyson writes brilliantly. This is one story I know will stick with me for a long, long time.

Alyson Santos is killing me. Killing me in only the best way. Alyson Santos stories are real to the point where I am on my knees. I am invested in her character driven narrative to the point I feel it is really real. These powerful stories can only be written by someone who knows this world well and has seen what happens when you are navigating the excesses of this world. The layers to Limelight are such that I am being sucked down deeper and deeper with each chapter. I am sucked down to the point where I feel as if I will not be able to take another breath. Each character is essential and is carefully crafted and fully realized. The writing is tight and literally whirls like a cyclone. In the center of this cyclone a group of strong players exist. I would say we have a strong couple but the fact is that the "secondary" characters are also primary players. This is new for me. I can always identify a primary couple and clear secondary characters but that is not the case here. This book is amazing, it is tragic, it is lyrical, it is magical, and at it's core it is a love song. We are on a journey with books by Alyson Santos and we are often exhausted when finished. Only books I consider essential bring me to this point. This is really a masterpiece and Aly's writing just keeps getting better and better. Thank you for allowing me into your magical world Aly. Ugh this book. I say this with every release, but Alyson’s books just get better and better. Just when I think she can’t gut me any more, she goes right ahead and does it again. Bigger and better.
Limelight is the perfect story of a tormented but incredibly talented and genius-like rocker. Every feeling is real, I lived it as though it was me. My heart was torn out and ripped apart, the darkness in Jesses soul was palpable. I felt it with every word. I smiled a lot. I cried a lot. I felt sadness with him but also felt him light up. His journey is one of hardship, he loses himself and totally finds himself. I was there!!
I loved the return of some of our faves and also the newbies, I may have a massive soft spot for D!!
Overall, this book is everything.

Yes, that could be said about a lot of books. But not all books are Limelight.

Aly brings us back to familiar faces we have met before and love, but really knowing the real Jesse Everett and all he is, is a whole new level. Tormented, sad, hopeful, genius, loner, addict, brother and lover, he is all this and more. He is self-destructive but wants to still reach the dreams he and his brother have. They fought through trauma. They reached their dreams and the fell from Grace.

Limelight is about reaching you lowest and always having one person who believes in you so much that you will fight through the mud to make the proud. This is a story of survival and life and love.

When you finish, you will know too, that you are capable all things.
