La version française vous est disponible en sélectionnant la langue dans le menu déroulant en haut de cet écran.

Dear Madam or Sir

The IDEA D4D Hub kindly invites you to take part in our international project composed of a series of activities such as workshops, capacity building and an Innovation Day to facilitate exchanges around digital technology, to strengthen the capacity of civil society in the field, and to develop the use of digital technology in the service of civil society.

To better understand the challenges faced by participants of the digital sphere, whether linked to access, use, relevance, or any other issues, we have compiled this survey that we kindly ask you to complete.

Your reply will enable us to tailor the project directly to your needs and the challenges you face with regard to the digital sphere and digital inclusion, and to address any societal challenges arising from digital transformation.

Identifying your challenges and civil society topics

With your reply you help us to identify challenges around digital transformation in your country. Upon this information, we will invite you to further participate in the first activity of this international project, a workshop to further understand your needs and how to make digital transformation more inclusive. This workshop is geared towards civil society organisations and representatives from academic institutions like you and is an important step towards raising awareness to civil society topics and challenges.

The Innovation Days

The workshop will be followed by a larger event, the “Innovation Days”, where you will be meeting with other civil society organisations and academic institutions as well as key stakeholders from the public and private sectors, such as representatives of ICT ministries and national regulators, internet service providers, innovation hubs, incubators, diaspora organisations, as well as European counterparts. The objectives of these “Innovation Days” is to collaboratively co-design solutions to the challenges and problems around digitalization identified during the workshop.

During the project, you will therefore have the opportunity to discuss and debate with key stakeholders of the digital sphere, with the intention that those discussions lead to long-term projects that implement the solutions you will have imagined. Our institutional partners such as European technical cooperation agencies, European development agencies, the European Union Delegation, as well as local Embassies will also be invited.

Webinars and activities to stay in touch

Throughout the next three months, activities such as webinars related to the topics you will have identified prior and during the workshop will take place. To make sure this project is as relevant as it can be, we hope to count on your active participation. In recognition of your commitment and involvement, this engagement can lead to a certificate of participation from the IDEA D4D Hub project.

Who we are looking for

We are looking in particular for organisations that focus on digital transformation and meeting the Sustainable Development Goals through the use of digital technologies and approaching, or wanting to develop those uses. We aim to give priority to organisations representing a certain diversity according to the size of the organisation, geographical scope, topics and diversity. However, for logistical reasons, organisations that can travel to the venue, or are already based in town, and have the capacity to follow online activities, may be given preference.

Who we are

The Innovation Dialogue Europe-Africa (IDEA) D4D Hub project embraces an interdisciplinary and inclusive approach to empower digital ecosystem collaboration, nationally, regionally and transcontinentally, to jointly advance a human-centric digital transformation. We are concentrating on strengthening the capacity of civil society and academia to participate in the development of an inclusive and sustainable digital economy and society, which safeguards democratic values and rights in the interaction between citizens and technology. IDEA D4D was officially kicked-off on Dec 15th 2021 by EU DG CONNECT and the IDEA D4D consortium members (GIZ (coordinator), Enabel, Expertise France, betterplace lab and Smart Africa) sharing the main activities under the project covering four African countries: Tunisia/Morocco, Burkina Faso, Uganda and Mozambique. Please find more information about the project in the fact sheet attached.

If you know any other civil society organisations working in the field of digital transformation in your country, please feel free to forward this email with the link to the survey to them.
