The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

Office of the Skillshouse is Bradford Councils approach to Careers and Employment for the district. Led through our innovative local business-education partnership and gateway for business engagement in education and curriculum development.

Working with young people and adults across the district, it is responsible for facilitating partnership relations with businesses and educators of all ages (including higher education) to inform the local design and delivery of employment pathways and curriculum that meets business needs.

Within Skillshouse, the Careers and Technical Education Partnership delivers the pathways framework supported by the University of Bradford, our 4 FE Colleges, Bradford Council, schools, business, and other partners in the district. It represents an ambitious all phase and age approach to careers and technical education in Bradford to bring together the world of education and industry.

Over the last seven years, we've grown the approach so that we plan to work with over 15,000 young people on a general career education programme and over 3,500 young people on more focused sector-themed learning pathways this year, with plans for further growth.

Your role will be at the heart of this rewarding work, working with the Education Services Manager. As a qualified Careers Adviser, you will be responsible for delivering a range of CEIAG in schools / Further Education Colleges, work-related learning, and enterprise activities to young people through an allocated caseload. Providing 1:1 impartial information, advice, guidance and ongoing caseload support to ensure young people remain in or progress into employment, education or training.

This role also focuses on young people who are NEET or vulnerable to NEET due to particular needs, also providing specific services to young people that an educational institution or other customers have purchased.

You'll need to be adept at developing and delivering high-quality careers education, information advice and guidance. Undertake small/large group work activities including presentations and engage employer's programmes for young people in education to help young people move into employment or contribute career educational programmes, supporting the delivery of the Gatsby benchmarks. You will have experience in managing education and client relations and have experience working in an academic setting.
