The United States and China may have inked a trade deal on Wednesday, but Chinese counter-tariffs against American goods are still in place and sales of American farm products to China have not yet picked up.

But just the fact that Beijing has promised to dramatically ramp up its purchases of American agricultural goods, in a black-and-white legal document signed to great fanfare by the country's vice-premier, has lifted the spirits of farmers in Wisconsin.
