BEIJING - China has been accused of trying to influence Taiwan's presidential election through a disinformation campaign but if President Tsai Ing-wen wins a second term, as expected, it would mean Beijing's purported attempts to sway voters would have failed miserably.
There is no doubt the Chinese leadership will be watching the vote closely for an indication of how strong anti-Beijing sentiments, which have been building for months, run on the island.
