Argentina

This biogas project developed by Bioeléctrica 2 utilizes the organic fraction of municipal solid waste and thin stillage from a neighbouring bioethanol production plant by co-digestion. The generated electricity of 17 Gigawatt hours (GWh) per year is planned to be distributed through the public power grid.

02.

Ethiopia

At Lake Tana, biogas production will be combined with environmental protection measures by using water hyacinth and organic wastes for the generation of electric power. The plant material is collected and, together with agricultural residues utilized to produce an estimated 13 GWh electricity per year. The consortium consists of Bahir Dar University, and Lake Tana and other Water bodies Protection and Development Agency.

03.

Ghana

Beta Construction Engineers Ltd. will develop a biogas plant that utilizes the organic fraction of municipal solid waste together with municipal sludge, which will help to dispose those residues sustainably and produce renewable electricity, with estimated 24 GWh electricity per year, distributed through the public power grid.

04.

Indonesia

The biogas plant developed by ecody will utilize palm oil production residues to substitute fossil fuel to produce electricity in a remote area, while reducing the environmental impact from the residues. The total production of electricity for self-consumption is estimated at 24 GWh per year.

05.

South Africa

New Auto Energy will develop a biogas plant that utilizes organic municipal waste and wastewater in order to produce biomethane. It will be injected into the local micro gas grid supplying sustainable, green gas to the surrounding areas. Thereby, an estimated 1.1 Million cubic meters (m³) biomethane per annum is produced.
