Event: Impact of proposed platform work directive on EU ride-hailing sector: Will proposed measures classify most drivers as employees? - hosted by MEP Radan Kanev (11 May)
MEP Radan Kanev (EPP, BG) & Move EU are pleased to invite you to a hybrid workshop to discuss implications of the proposed Platform Work Directive on Wednesday, 11 May from 10 AM - 12 PM. The debate aims to assess to what extent the proposal will address the needs of Platform Workers, and whether it will live up to its aim of improving working conditions.

In December 2021, the Commission adopted its proposal for a Platform Work Directive. The approach taken and the suggested criteria would likely lead to a reclassification of most platform workers. Reclassification may not necessarily improve working conditions, and instead negatively impact earnings, reduce efficiency and harm innovation.

Speakers include policy-makers, driver representatives, economists and sector representatives. In-person attendance is limited but participants can also join virtually. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the speakers during a dedicated Q&A Session.
