🌟 Talk about coming full circle! This time last year, Mel Bourke, one of our stellar Tourism and Events graduates, embarked on a behind-the-scenes industry visit to Principality Stadium with her course. Little did she know, it would pave the way for her to land a dream job as a Meeting and Events Coordinator with them once she graduated in summer 2023! 🎓💼 Fast forward to now, our Tourism and Events students recently returned to the Principality Stadium to reconnect with Mel and meet with the Management team. From getting the low-down on match day ops and upcoming events, to learning about placement at career opportunities, it was another enriching experience for our students. To top off the visit, they were treated to an exclusive behind the scenes tour including a sneak peek of the Control Room and a glimpse of the new Roof Walk and adrenaline-pumping Zip Wire and Abseiling attraction 🏟️✨ Interested in learning about our Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism courses? 🎓📢GRADUATE STORY: We caught up with James Morgan, a graduate of BA Education Studies, who shared insight about his experience navigating higher education as a mature student and discovering self-belief. A Swansea local, James grew up with a difficult homelife that meant that school was not at the forefront of his mind and he left with 5 GCSEs. At 29, with plenty of work experience but nowhere to progress in his career, James decided that after 14 years out of education, it was his time to return. Now working as a Creative Learning Producer for Ambassador Theatre Group based in Swansea Arena, James works with children and young people encouraging them to practice their creativity through music and performance, and raising their aspirations. 🎓📢STORI CYN-FYFYRIWR: Cawsom gyfle i ddal fyny â James Morgan, cyn-fyfyriwr BA Astudiaethau Addysg, a rannodd ei fewnwelediad am ei brofiad yn ymgymryd ag addysg uwch fel myfyriwr aeddfed a darganfod hunangred. Yn lleol o Abertawe, tyfodd James i fyny â bywyd cartref anodd a golyga nid oedd ysgol yn flaenllaw yn ei feddwl a gadawodd gyda 5 TGAU. ✨ALUMNI NEWS 🎓A splash of Spring: A Surface Pattern Design graduate’s creations hit supermarket stores just in time for Easter 🐣🌷 Marie Wilkinson, from Llandovery, gained a Master's in Surface Pattern Design from UWTSD's Swansea College of Art in 2021. She now resides in Pembrokeshire and works as an Assistant Designer for Tesco. Marie conducts extensive trend research and market analysis with her team before bringing to life an array of homeware products. From cosy bedding to charming cushions, mugs and tableware decorated in patterns that are the epitome of spring, Marie said that seeing her creations grace the shelves of Tesco stores for the first time was a "proud and surreal moment."
