Nightlife

Students are never short of things to do in Scotland’s largest – and perhaps liveliest – city. The beautifully cobbled Ashton Lane is a go-to as it’s packed with bars and restaurants. On summer’s evenings, Raddison RED is the second-best rooftop bar – after our view own at Base! – for views across the city. And of course, SSE Hydro: the largest entertainment venue in Scotland.

Weekend Activities

When students aren’t catching events at SSE Hydro or watching football at Celtic Park, they’re unwinding with nature and museums. You can take a stroll around the beautiful Boatnic Gardens or the Kelvingrove Park, which is also home to an art gallery and a museum. On Sundays, the hotspot is the BAaD Independent Market, where students love discovering local artists and exploring the market.

Culture

Glasgow is great for letting go of stress and soaking up culture. There are lots of museums, like the Riverside and the Huntarian, and art galleries, like the Gallery of Modern Art, which is only a 10-minute walk from Base. When students want more of an adventure, they visit Edinburgh Castle and the old town, which is only an hour away on the train.

Food Scene

This will come as no surprise: Glasgow is filled with food. You can walk to a wide variety of restaurants and cafes from Base, and we’ve already touched on Ashton Lane (for anyone wanting to tuck into haggis, Ubiquitous Chip is a go-to).  At weekends, students head to food markets like BIG FEED, The Dockyard social, which is packed with food stalls and street food options.
