Mel O’Rourke, CI Studio

Mel is Founder and Creative Director with CI Studio, a design and brand agency based in Dublin. Working with clients in Ireland and the UK as well as further afield in Germany, Canada and the US on everything from strategy and naming to brand identity, language, motion graphics, print, interiors and web.
Founding CI Studio, previously Creative Inc in 1996, she works on the naming, brand language and strategy, and directs the design process of all major brand and rebrand projects within the studio including the recent MoLI Museum of Literature Ireland, food market Marqette, global travel wellness app Sanctifly of which she is a partner and many more.
She has written a book Why Design on behalf of Enterprise Ireland and has been on the ICAD judging panel multiple times as well as being the chair of the 2019 panel. She represented Ireland as a judge for the European Design Awards (ACDE) and was the Irish design judge for the International Shark Awards held in Kinsale 2018. Mel also received the Gold Award at the European Design Awards for her creative direction on Dublin City Council’s LAB Book.

Philip Mitton, CI Studio

Philip is a Design Director at CI Studio. Originally from Dublin where he studied at IADT Dun Laoghaire, he has worked on some of the studio’s biggest design and brand projects in the last 6 years including Monoset which won a prestigious Red Dot award for product design, RKD Architects and Lighthouse Studios to name a few.

With over ten years’ experience domestically and previously in the UK, Philip has worked in a broad spectrum of agencies ranging from small independent studios to large scale global consultancies, working with some of the world’s biggest brands such as Universal Music, Jaguar and BMW. He is also a partner in a record label called Appian Sounds where he looks after the label’s identity and visual output.
