Evaluation: FlatFrog Board Software - Q4 2019
1 Oct 2019
This evaluation provides an overview of a product that fits into the Wainhouse Research Level 1 ideation software stack (while shading into some Level 2 functionality). FlatFrog Board is targeted at the FlatFrog inGlass-enabled universe of interactive displays, which as of Q4 2019 included products from the likes of Dell, Avocor, Newline, Samsung, Sharp, NEC, Optika, and others.
FlatFrog Board provides features designed for a multitouch, in-room board experience – pure play local teamwork. While a lightweight version of FlatFrog Board software is provided for free by many of FlatFrog’s partners (as discussed in WR’s Q2 2019 Dell C7520QT Interactive Touch Monitor evaluation), this downloadable, Windows-only application is designed for organizations seeking even greater functionality on their interactive touch displays. For now it runs on Windows 10-based touch displays, PCs, and laptops, and is integrated with QuickLaunch as well as Intel Unite. The software is designed specifically to make it easy for the typical knowledge worker to get started with ideation software and touchscreens. Some of its unique features include 36 built-in templates, drag & drop grouping, finger-based lassoing, and global management of touchscreens.
We put FlatFrog Board through rigorous testing in our Research Lab and with internal remote co-creators working on their own local versions of the software. Our focus in this evaluation is on ease of use, feature sets, and use cases.
