Job Description
Biotage is hiring in the midst of COVID19!

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Buffer Manufacturing Technician’s primary responsibility is the formulation of the various buffers for the PhyNexus affinity and plasmid columns.  This individual will work on the manufacturing floor to produce buffers, maintain and troubleshoot equipment, clean production equipment and labware, and clean the production area.  Tasks include weighing and measuring raw materials to ensure batches contain proper ingredients and quantities and conducting in-process tests, such as pH and temperature measurements.  Secondary responsibilities will be to assist with PhyTip column production.

REQUIREMENTS:
Professional with strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Effective time management and organizational skills
Diligent worker with strong attention to detail and able to work to deadlines
Knowledge of working with chemical solutions
Good working knowledge of MS Office suite
Ability to plan, prioritize and handle multiple tasks
Ability to perform well in a metrics driven environment
Ability to work independently
Bachelor’s Degree, ideally with 1-3 years of related experience


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Prepare and bottle buffers for finished goods
Ensure buffer stock levels are sufficient to meet order requirements
Manage glassware stocks, cleanliness of lab, autoclaving etc.
Maintain and troubleshoot production equipment
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as needed

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this Role, the employee may infrequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this Role include close vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Role, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
A majority of the work is to be performed in a production and lab setting.  The employee will be regularly exposed to various chemicals. Personal protective equipment will be required when performing certain tasks.  Noise level in the work environment is moderate, with occasional loud noise exposure.
