Podcast Series

The podcasts series will feature thought provoking discussions which will be of interest to school and college leaders, teachers and other staff wanting to know more about the realities of leading mental health in schools/colleges. It is a unique chance to learn directly from your colleagues and gain insight into the changes taking place within our education system.

This series offers insight for School Leaders, Senior Mental Health Leads and Pastoral Leaders in how to support both staff, pupils and the wider community and focuses on topics school colleagues told us they want to hear about. A downloadable factsheet with take-away tips will be available to accompany each podcast.

  1. Embedding mental health in the curriculum

With the expectation that schools and colleges will now cover mental health in the curriculum, this podcast will discuss what such a curriculum might look like, how to set it up for success and the challenges of embedding these changes.

  2. School staff wellbeing

School and college leaders repeatedly say that staff wellbeing is a key concern. This podcast will explore some of the causes of wellbeing issues and what can be done to improve staff wellbeing across the school or college.

  3. Promoting positive mental health in school

An effective approach to mental health is more akin to a culture change for the whole school or college community. This podcast will explore what this might look like, how a school leader can go about making that change stick, overcoming some of the challenges along the way and what a mentally healthy school will look and feel like.

  4. Developing a mental health policy

More schools and colleges are deciding to have their own mental health policy, yet there are few resources out there to draw on. This podcast will look at the key aspects of such a policy, how a school / college leader can go about creating and implementing a policy and integration with other key policies.
