Leading Change in Learning For Equity and Sustainability in ITE

Who is this course for?

Are you a UK based teacher educator based in a university or school-based provider that is,

• Interested in reflecting deeply and critically on LfES

• Committed to embedding LfES themes and approaches within your professional practice

• Considering how to initiate and implement wider scale LfES change, at a departmental or institutional level

If your answer is ‘yes’ to these questions then this course is for you!

Why participate?

In 2015, the United Nations published the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlining a vision for 2030 to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

The urgent need for education which can support all young people to question, debate and act in relation to local and global issues becomes increasingly clear.

Developed through collaboration between teacher educators across the UK, this professional learning will support you to explore innovative and transformative approaches to enacting change in Learning for Equity and Sustainability that can be applied in your department or institution.

Engagement in this fully funded course will enable you to:

• Actively contribute to collaborative practice and knowledge exchange on leading change in LfES

• Explore innovative and transformative approaches to enacting change for LFES

• Critically reflect on the role of the ITE educator in leading change in LFES

• Consider the opportunities and possibilities, in your ITE role, to bring about future transformative change for LfES

• Gain access to a national network of like-minded teacher educators

What will be involved?

The course involves participation in online discussions and activities in three course modules, at a time that is convenient for you over a six week period.

You will be supported by skilled facilitators with a background in Learning for Equity and Sustainability and online learning and do not need any advanced technical expertise to take part.

What will be asked of you?

During the course you are asked to

• Commit to at least 2 hours per fortnight of participation

• Contribute to online discussion forums

• Plan for an LfES activity in your professional practice

• Share your reflections on your learning with the group through online discussions
