Free parking permits for peripatetic healthcare workers

Nottinghamshire County Council has launched a free parking permit for healthcare workers who predominantly visit patients within their homes.

The permits allow eligible workers to park for one hour on single yellow lines and in residents parking areas. They are not valid in car parks or on any other restriction.

For information on Nottinghamshire's parking restrictions as well as the boundaries of neighbouring authorities where the pass is not valid, please visit Nottingham Traffweb and click on 'Traffic Orders'.

Who is eligible?

The new permit scheme is designed to help healthcare workers who make regular daily visits between patient’s houses and who often need to obtain and display the traditional visitor permit to do so. It is expected that these will predominantly be those working for the NHS and some social workers.

How does it work?

The new permits are ‘virtual’, which means there is no need to display anything in vehicles. Instead, vehicle registrations will be logged using a secure digital system, marking them as exempt. The exemption will last for one hour to allow for a typical appointment. If any longer is required, the traditional visitor permit should be used.

To be able to renew an existing permit and receive a reminder when the permit is due for renewal, please create a MiPermit account. You may not receive a reminder and will have to submit another application when the Peripatetic Community Healthcare Permit is due to expire, if an account isn’t created.
