Dear all,

Welcome to the fifth edition of our UEA+MOVES monthly newsletter, looking back as well as outlining what we have coming up. We hope you have been enjoying being able to claim more of the rewards now campus has started to open up a bit more.  
UEA+MOVES STATS
Some interesting stats for you across the month of March include: 11,772 miles were run and 7,151 miles were cycled. We have also seen the distanced swam increase massively so well done to all you swimmers getting the lengths in. A huge 595 rewards were claimed in the month by Moves users so well done for earning those points and getting your prizes. A massive well done to all. 
UEA+MOVES SPOTLIGHTS

Please see our fifth edition of UEA+MOVES Spotlights. Two kind users were happy to give us an update on their experiences of using the app as well as some handy top tips for squeezing in those extra steps and miles and what their favourite thing about UEA+MOVES is.  First up we have Gemma Emeton-Long who is the Community Sport Development Assistant Coordinator at UEA Sportspark. We also have Caiti Millsom who is an undergraduate Sports Development Student, Caiti is also one of the UNO reps for UEA Netball Club. Thanks for sharing your UEA+MOVES stories Gemma and Caiti.

Why did you sign up for Moves? 
I joined before the app went live to help with the beta testing!
 
What do you like about Moves? 

I like it tracks what activity I do throughout the day and how it easily transfers the data. 
 
Has Moves impacted your physical activity levels and how? 

Yes, it has impacted what activity I do as I am always trying to beat the previous days recorded.
 
What do you like doing physical activity-wise? 
My most common activity is walking. This ranges from walking around the Sportspark as part of my job, or getting out with the family.
 
What are your top tips for being physically active? 
Try and do your physical activity with someone as it makes it easier to stay committed.  
 
What rewards have your enjoyed claiming? 
I love my Moves hoody and I am now working towards the zip up one.

Caiti Millsom - Undergraduate Sports Development

What school are you in? 
The School of Education and Lifelong Learning 

Why did you sign up to Moves? 

To help motivate me to do more by tracking my activity and to earn points from participating in exercise! 

What do you like about Moves? 
I like that there are a variety of challenges on moves and that it links to my Fitbit so all the steps I do are counted. It is also easy to use. 


Has Moves impacted your physical activity levels and how? 

I have found since using Moves, I go out for my walks and choose to walk to places instead of driving so I am able to earn more points and get more coffees!

What do you like doing physical activity-wise? 

I play Netball a few times a week, along with going to the gym daily. I also enjoy going on walks around campus and the lake when I am able to. 

What are your favourite challenges on Moves?  
My favourite challenges are the Step challenges. They are easy to take part in and incorporate into my daily routine.

GO GREEN WEEK
Go Green week runs up till to May 9th, there will be plenty of challenges linked to the week and some fundraising going on to support Go Green week! So make sure you check this out on the app before the 9th May. 
NEW REWARDS
We have a huge variety of rewards available this month. We are working closely with the Sportspark and the Uiversity to get some great new rewards for you! Keep your eyes peeled for those. You can also donate £1 or £10 from your points to 2 amazing charities The Norfolk Wildlife Trust to help them expand Thompson Common, a nature reserve that uea+sport has visited with students on Navigate Norfolk trips in the past and Groundwork UK a fantastic charity that believe in sustainable community development. Thanks to all those that donated to last month's charities Men's Minds Matter Charity and Julian Support.

Please be aware the protein shaker and water bottle are now available to be redeemed and collected from UEA Sportspark reception.  Head over to the rewards section of the app to see what other fab treats we have for you to check out. 
 
UEA+MOVES FOR GOOD CAUSES

We are incredibly pleased that UEA students and staff alike have been very generously donating their points from UEA+MOVES to good causes. £138 has been raised for the Norfolk and Waveney branch of Mind. Norfolk and Waveney Mind is a mental health charity who believe that no one should have to face a mental health problem alone.They work to reduce the stigma associated with mental health, support people in their recovery and champion better services for all.
