CITY CENTRAL x LET'S GRO FESTIVAL
THREE DAYS OF EVENTS IN AND AROUND THE GROTE MARKT!


Let's Gro is the annual ideas and inspiration festival about the future of Groningen. During this year's edition, City Central will host a mini-festival in its own mini house 'Cubestee' on the Grote Markt around the theme of belonging and inclusion in the city.

Join us for an interactive multimedia exhibition around our campaign   #IKBENEENGRONINGER, as well as research presentations and workshops, and a variety of fun pop-ups hosted by young local talent.

You are all cordially invited to join us for the official opening of our #IKBENEENGRONINGER exhibition at Let's Gro. Meet diverse residents of Groningen and discuss how we can make the city more inclusive.

During Let's Gro we will keep building on our listening and sharing campaign for a more inclusive Groningen. Come and tell us your experience of belonging and/or exclusion, get your photo taken to join our campaign to celebrate the true diversity of Groningen.

HOW INCLUSIVE IS THE UNIVERSITY?

How to bridge the gap between Dutch and international students? Researchers from the psychology department who have actively addressed this problem shares their findings on integration between the Dutch and international student population.

HOW INCLUSIVE IS THE CITY?

Groningen's international population is growing fast, and the difficulties new residents face are reported often in the media. But how do locals experience the changing city? Are 'stadjers' happy or skeptical about international Groningen?  

In this interactive session we will hear from a mixed team of students and municipal trainees who have been investigating this question in the past months.

Over the course of Let’sGro we’re inviting both local and international young talents to showcase their skills through us. Try authentic homemade Chinese bubble tea, yoga from Sri Lanka, slow-stitching in the American handcraft tradition or rediscover the art of letter writing.

Join us for a tour of the City Hall with local politician Fleur Woudstra who will tell us all about the building, its history and role in local politics! This event is followed by an evening programme: Crash Course Local Politics.

SLOW STITCHING


Happiness is slowing down. Join one of our slow stitching workshops, for some slowed-down happiness, to gain some skills and meet like-minded people! The workshops are hosted by American Groninger Jennifer Jansen. 

Workshops are 60 mins long and offered on Thursday 1 November and Friday 2 November.

SATURDAY 3 NOVEMBER 
SLOW STITCHING WITH KIDS

Happiness is slow crafting with your child.

The benefits of practicing slow craft with kids are many: learning patience, concentration, and perseverance; improving hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills; learning that mistakes are part of the process. One way to practice these skills is through simple hand stitching.

Special 30-minute parent and child workshop, hosted by American Groninger Jennifer Jansen. No experience or supplies required! Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 3+ are welcome!

LIEKE'S LOVE LETTERS

Happiness is sending a letter. Are you secretly in love with a co-worker, housemate or friend? Or do you miss your beloved grandmother who's far away?

Send a message to someone you care about - Lieke will help you write a love letter to send on the spot, typed out on a good old-fashioned typewriter.

FALL FLOW YOGA

Happiness is being at home in your body. Join us at Let's Gro for a free yoga session from Sri Lankan Groninger Farah Rahman. She is hosting both a Fall Flow yoga class as well as a Let's Flow yoga session. 

Each session is 60 minutes long; please bring your own mat or let us know if you don't have one.

Happiness is homemade bubble tea! During all three days of Let'
sGro we'll have Qian's popular Bubble Tea at City Central (at our shop location) again! 

This time, Qian will offer
fourflavours of bubble tea, and also a new type of fruit tea, Honey Citron Tea, and a popular Hongkong dessert called Ban Ji (mango pancake), it’s a pancake wrapped with mango and whipped cream !!
