Dear IFHE Members, here is news from IFHE for July 2022.
Please share with anybody interested in healthcare engineering.
Historically, the President has always had the opportunity to speak to many associates of the IFHE member associations on many occasions during their two-year term.  Clearly, with the outbreak of the pandemic this hasn’t been possible during my tenure, and, in the absence of congresses and international travel, we’ve been limited to videocalls, and have missed the chance to talk face-to-face, in the informal way we all enjoy.... READ MORE.
AARQHOS, Guild Association of Architecture and Hospital Specialties, is a Chilean, professional and academic group of hospital architects and concurrent specialists; all with experience and interest in the study, development, promotion and dissemination of hospital architecture and engineering in Chile.

AARQHOS was founded in Santiago on February 28, 2012 by eleven architects with vast experience in hospital projects, with a view to creating a space for debate and development, where different professionals, from their respective skills in the construction and medical fields, could contribute to the scope of the crucial standards for the advancement of health infrastructure, becoming a technical reference in the area before the authority.

The Austrian Association of Hospital Technicians (ÖVKT) is the platform for technology in the healthcare sector in Austria and represents construction, building, industrial, medical and information technology.

In Austria there are currently almost 300 hospitals in all federal states and a large number of medical centres, nursing homes, rehabilitation centres, older people's homes and facilities for assisted living.

In all these healthcare facilities, technicians perform important tasks to ensure the core task of dellivering quality and safe healthcare is supported.

ÖVKT is a forum for the broad exchange of views between technicians and our process partners (hospital managers, physicians, nursing staff, etc.). In addition, we support the further training of our members, on the one hand through our own training program and on the other hand through cooperation with universities and training centres.

The Inaugural IFHE Energy Awards...and the Coming of Carbon.

The time period for entries into the IFHE First International Healthcare Energy Awards program has come.

We are pleased to announce that 470 hospitals from around the world have entered the awards program.

Data analysts are now sifting through the result to determine award winners. It appears from early information that 188 entries have managed at least a 5% energy reduction, and 111 have managed greater than 10% energy reduction over the past two years.  An incredible effort!

In Toronto, at the 2022 IFHE Congress, the final numbers will be announced, including the total amount of energy saved in each country’s hospitals, the total energy saved by ALL IFHE member hospitals, the hospital in each country who achieved the greatest reduction, and the hospital who achieved the greatest reduction in the world. This is a celebration you do not want to miss this!

Even more exciting, the program will evolve for the next round of awards, to be presented in the 2024 Congress in South Africa. IFHE, understanding the critical nature of our climate crisis, is evolving its award program to focus on Carbon Reductions, rather than just energy reductions. More news will be announces at the Toronto Congress together with details of the platform for this exciting evolution. We hope to see you all there!

Ingénieurs Hospitaliers de France (IHF) is greatly honoured to have been chosen by IFHE-EU to organise the 10th European Conference on Healthcare Engineering. The association will offer the best possible welcome to our European colleagues and arrange an outstanding event that promises to mark a new milestone in the development of European healthcare engineering.

10th ECHE will take place in Paris in conjunction with the 63rd IHF Study and Training Days (JEF IHF) at the PALAIS DES CONGRES DE PARIS, close to Champs-Elysées Avenue from 14 to 16 June 2023.

Major challenges currently facing healthcare engineering: sustainable development and reducing carbon emissions, life cycles and overall cost, the development of digital and artificial intelligence, involving users in the design of healthcare spaces and more traditional themes of managing maintenance and operation and the design of the healthcare built environment will be discussed by leading speakers from IFHE EU member countries through plenary sessions and themed workshops.

A trade fair including suppliers, industry figures, designers, consultants, etc. and specific forums will allow visitors to discover innovations and enjoy discussion and debate with other professionals.

Finally, there will be multiple spaces and opportunities for friendly interaction during this event, as a key objective of this European conference is for figures from the European healthcare engineering sector to share and discuss topics, as well as network with their European colleagues.

We look forward to meeting you in Paris.

Bruno Cazabat, president IHF
Jacques Roos, vice-president IHF, vice-president IFHE EU
