[BitShift] MICHELE SPANGHERO: 'Ad lib.'
Exhibition opening // January 27, 2022, 8pm
|

The sound sculpture combines a medical machine for automatic pulmonary ventilation with a few organ pipes that play a musical chord in a continuous rhythm of mechanical breathing. In this way, they create an artificial organ that is metaphorically a mechanical requiem that is constantly heard. The sculpture is intended to draw attention to the situation in which the survival of people with critical health problems depends on the respiratory apparatus, and thus on the judgment of those who care for them.
