[BitShift] MICHELE SPANGHERO: 'Ad lib.'
Exhibition opening // January 27, 2022, 8pm

The sound sculpture combines a medical machine for automatic pulmonary ventilation with a few organ pipes that play a musical chord in a continuous rhythm of mechanical breathing. In this way, they create an artificial organ that is metaphorically a mechanical requiem that is constantly heard. The sculpture is intended to draw attention to the situation in which the survival of people with critical health problems depends on the respiratory apparatus, and thus on the judgment of those who care for them. More

☑️ I'm a robot.

Our editorials are now written by Talk to Transformer, a neural network based on the OpenAI GPT-2 language model. Yep, artificial intelligence. Our purpose is not, of course, to unreflectively spread enthusiasm for thinking machines. On the contrary. We're excited about a new tool that's a kind of anti-tool, producing endearingly confusing sentences from the keywords we've put in Transformer's mouth. But this pataphysical lexicon that introduces our newsletter is exactly what we want to do with a newsletter: inspire and open paths to the unknown!
