In 2021 I want us to hold onto the rainbow in the clouds. I am sure Noah felt overwhelmed by the task at hand. The flood affected the whole earth and the people closest to him, just like the COVID-19 pandemic affects us all. Noah survived because he stayed close to God and followed His instructions. It is my prayer that we will stay close enough to God in 2021 so that we will hear His guidance and instructions throughout.
“Let us enjoy the tempo of a God-breathed life by letting Him set our pace. Let us yield to His creative work in us, neither resisting it nor trying to speed it up!” (Sarah Young, 2019).
We praise God that He protected us throughout 2020, and that He provided for us and those we serve. In Him we entrust our plans and dreams for 2021.
Sadly, many of our staff lost loved ones and we also had to say goodbye to Jabu Mnukwa and former staff member, Joyce Ngobeni, in our Johannesburg branch. They will be missed deeply and it was an honour to serve with them. We pray for comfort during this difficult time. May each one of you be reminded of the rainbow in the clouds in your own journeys in 2021.
We are cautious about the potential impact the current economy might have on MES in 2021. We want to assure our partners and supporters that we will plan carefully to optimise on the resources entrusted to us. The need on our doorstep is escalating as more people become unemployed.
We urge you to continue your support if it is within your means - and where possible, challenge a friend or company to match your donation and help us make up the donations that we are losing.
We will keep our eye on the rainbow in the clouds as we celebrate 35 years of serving in 2021. This year we want to acknowledge all the good He has done over the past 35 years in and through MES.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and ensuring that we can continue to make positive change possible!
I would like to share this special blessing with each one of you for 2021.
Regards,
Leona Pienaar
CEO of MES
