Dankzij DOCVILLE wint Isala een wetenschappelijke documentaire! Researchers van de VUB, University of Antwerp en UGent namen deel aan de SciencePitch, waar ze hun onderzoek op een heldere manier naar voor brachten voor een groep enthousiaste filmmakers. Na een serie speeddates kwamen er twee korte docu's uit de bus. 📽 Met 'Het Wonder Daaronder' zullen Nina Jeanne Landau en Janet van den Brand een muzikale wetenschapsdocumentaire maken, die ons meeneemt op een ontdekkingsreis in de vagina, de natuurlijke habitat van veel verschillende bacteriën die iedere een eigen verhaal vertellen over het leven van vrouwen. Gebaseerd op het Isala-onderzoek in samenwerking met onderzoeker Sarah Ahannach. 📽 Een tweede film zal inzoomen op het onderzoek van Cem Berk Şenel (VUB Research) rond het fijne stof dat het einde betekende van de dino. 🎫 Wereldpremière tijdens DOCVILLE - Documentary Film Festival, Leuven 2025! https://lnkd.in/etjCDBXC

BIG NEWS! We are looking for 1000 women to participate in groundbreaking research on women’s health!  On March 24, 2020, our Isala project began. What started as a quest for 200 participants surged into an enthusiastic wave of nearly 6000 participants! This enabled us to map the vaginal microbiome in Flanders on a large scale for the first time and uncover the lifestyle and environmental factors influencing it (paper in Nature Portfolio Microbiology).   Now, our Isala train is moving full steam ahead! In our next phase, we are looking for 1000 women to investigate how vitamins, menstrual products, the menstrual cycle, and your environment impact the vaginal microbiome. Exciting update from our sister project, Dora! 🌟 Last summer, team Dora successfully launched the project with an insightful symposium at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, capturing the attention of many, including the State Commissioner for Health. Talks covered topics such as vaginal health, HPV awareness, and probiotics. The team also addressed misconceptions on a radio show, emphasizing the importance of reproductive health. Looking ahead, Team Dora aims to dispel taboos and enhance women's health through diverse channels.
