Wales Land Management Forum
Purpose
The Wales Land Management Forum (WLMF) provides an opportunity for Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and other WLMF membership organisations to share information, identify common interests and work together in a collaborative way on strategic land management issues.
The aim is to develop a “no surprises” approach to strategic issues whilst ensuring that any local developments with national implications can be addressed in a timely manner.
The WLMF also explores opportunities to develop, support and communicate shared messages and/or recommendations on the sustainable management of natural resources (SMNR).
In January 2017, the WLMF established a sub-group to focus on tackling agricultural pollution.
Membership
All WLMF meetings are chaired by a Board Member from NRW. Land management organisations participating in the WLMF are normally represented by an elected office holder along with the relevant policy lead. All organisations participating in the WLMF represent members who are directly involved in land management. These include:
- National Farmers Union Cymru (NFU Cymru)
- Farmers Union of Wales (FUW)
- Country Land and Business Association (CLA)
- The Wales Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (Wales YFC)
- Tenant Farmers Association (TFA)
- Confor
Any requests to join the WLMF (as submitted by other land management member organisations and received via the Chair) will be discussed at the next full meeting of the Forum.
Meetings are convened as necessary rather than on a fixed timetable, but generally take place 2-3 times per year.
