VIC: Subtitling: A Practical Introduction

In this online workshop participants will learn how to write and fit same language subtitles to a short piece of footage. We will be using free subtitling software compatible with Windows and OS X.

This workshop is aimed at beginners with no prior subtitling experience. We will explore the temporal and spatial restrictions unique to subtitling, condensing, subtitle timing and exporting subtitles to different file formats.

Presenter:

Claudia Schneider is a NAATI certified freelance translator. She is a native German speaker and translates in both directions. Claudia has worked as a freelance subtitler since 2004. She has worked for several Australian film distributors and her subtitled work has been shown in Australia and the UK.
