A joint event with the International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS)

In this webinar, we will outline the contextual parameters of community translation as a language service empowering minority or minoritized language groups. We will then discuss arrangements and strategies to ensure quality and impactful translations for target communities.

The focus will be mainly on community translators, but quality assurance will also be discussed in relation to other stakeholders.

Presenter  Mustapha Taibi

Mustapha Taibi is an Associate Professor in Interpreting and Translation at Western Sydney University. He is also the leader of the International Community Translation Research Group and Editor of Translation & Interpreting: The International Journal of Translation and Interpreting Research.

His teaching and research focus on community interpreting and translation. His most recent publications are Community Translation, co-authored with Uldis Ozolins (2016, Bloomsbury), New Insights into Arabic Translation and Interpreting (2016, Multilingual Matters), Translating for the Community (2018, Multilingual Matters), Multicultural Health Translation, Interpreting and Communication (2019, Routledge, co-edited with Christine Ji & Ineke Crezee), and Translating Cultures (2021, Routledge, co-authored with David Katan).
