Mr Jonathan White

I presently a Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security and hold the position of Deputy Programme Leader for the MSc Cyber Security programme. I joined UWE in January 2020, prior to joining UWE I worked in the telecommunications industry for over 23 years working as a software developer, product specialist and management leader in real-time, high-availability, fault-tolerant embedded systems deployed in Critical National Infrastructure telecoms networks.

I obtained both my M.Sc. in Cyber Security (with Distinction) and a B.Sc. in Computing for Real-time Systems from the University of the West of England. I am currently pursuing a D.Phil in Federated Learning: An analysis into the balance of machine learning and security.

My current primary research interests are in Federated Learning, with a keen interest in container security, and the detection of threats to IoT devices in a home network environment using machine learning.
