This course is for anyone who is new in a Knowledge Exchange role in HE/research organisation, and those who are experienced in one aspect of KE and want to understand the wider context and other modes of knowledge exchange.

Please note, the RTTP points available for this course are currently under review and will be confirmed as soon as possible.

This course is for anyone who is new to a Knowledge Exchange or impact of research role and also for those who are experienced in one aspect of KE and want to understand the wider context.

Delegates may not have much experience of working with businesses and probably not much experience of the different forms of interactions that can take place between universities and businesses.

Delegates will most likely be working in higher education and public sector research.  They may have some experience in specific areas of developing or managing knowledge exchange or research opportunities, but less knowledge and understanding around the breath and drivers around different aspects of Knowledge Exchange.

Why should I attend this course?

There is increasing importance in supporting academic staff to create impact through knowledge exchange activities.  This is emphasised with the introduction of the new Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) which intended to increase efficiency and effectiveness of how universities undertake Knowledge Exchange activities.  Having an overview of the governmental drivers, academic motivations and modes of Knowledge Exchange are essential in supporting academics to increase impact and diversify income streams.

This course has been designed to introduce you to the different forms of interactions that can be undertaken to support academic staff to deliver their impact through Knowledge Exchange opportunities.

What are the training outcomes?

  • Understand the needs and drivers of academic and non-academic partners
  • Recognise and be able to recommend the different routes of Knowledge Exchange in a given situation
  • Know how to develop new Knowledge Exchange opportunities
  • Know how to plan the delivery and evaluation of Knowledge Exchange projects

Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from (and speak directly with) Knowledge Exchange practitioners. There will also be ample opportunity for networking with other delegates, the course team and other contributors.  Delegates will have the opportunity to solve their own Knowledge Exchange challenges with the help of the course delegates.

PLEASE NOTE: There may be a requirement for delegates to undertake some pre-course work/reading before the course begins.
