About us

Our Advice Line is the beating heart of our charity. Since 1993, when we formed, we’ve supported almost 45,000 whistleblowers.

The public interest concerns we advise on are very diverse. Calls come from every sector, ranging from care home workers worried about residents’ well-being, teachers wanting to know what to do about concerns over finances or governance of their schools, bank staff facing money laundering concerns, factory staff unhappy over the safety of products, breaches of food and hygiene practices, patient safety and fraud issues.

Our advice team consists of staff who all have legal qualifications, have completed several months of our own training and are supervised by lawyers.

Contacting us

We provide free expert advice to whistleblowers, helping you decide how best to raise your concern, advising you on what protection you are entitled to and what you can do if things go wrong.

We also provide translation services, including for BSL. If you would be more comfortable talking with us about your concern in another language than spoken English, contact us and we can make arrangements.

If you need advice on general employment, please contact your local Citizens Advice or ACAS as they may be able to help.

Please note that we do not advocate at the Employment Tribunal, so we cannot represent you. We are not a regulatory body, so cannot investigate your whistleblowing concerns. As we have limited resources, we can only give advice as far as our resources allow.

Before contacting us, we would ask you to first please check if you can find the answer to your query on our advice pages:

I’ve raised my concerns but they are still unresolved

Help us help you - please fill in this monitoring form

We would like to keep track of who we are advising and to make sure that we reach a broad range of people from across the UK with differing financial and personal circumstances. We also want to make sure that we can identify where particular groups face especial barriers to whistleblowing, and campaign for reforms in that area.

This monitoring information is anonymised and not in any way linked back to your specific query (e.g. we might say that 70% of the people that contact us are female, or that 20% are from a BAME background). If you are contacting us on behalf of someone else, please fill this in with their information if you know it, otherwise please leave it blank.
