Roxana Mihet

Welcome!

I am an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Lausanne (HEC Lausanne) and a Faculty Member of the Swiss Finance Institute and a Research Affiliate of the CEPR. I am also the Founder and Director of the "AI & the Digital Economy" Lab at HEC Lausanne.

My research is at the intersection of macroeconomics, finance, and information economics. I study the modern data economy and how new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and big data, are impacting the macroeconomy and financial markets. I use a blend of theoretical, structural and empirical techniques to examine these topics. My research has won various prizes, including the ECB Young Economists' Competition, the Cubist Strategies Prize for Outstanding Research at the WFA, and the Sandoz Foundation - Monique de Meuron Program Fellowship

I completed my Ph.D. in Business Economics at NYU, Stern School of Business in 2020. I also earned an M.Phil. in Economics from the University of Oxford, and a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Chicago. Over the years, I worked in the Research Departments of the IMF, BIS, EBRD and Norges Bank on macro-finance and financial stability issues.
