Secondary and Further Education ITE Mentor Training AY 22/23

Mentor training sessions are an important element of our provision to ensure that mentors have the information and support needed to coach and mentor our trainee teachers during their Professional Practice. The training is required for anyone involved with the mentoring of trainees from the Department of Secondary & Further Education (all courses) for AY 22/23 and all sessions are open to all mentors although the focus will vary to fit the pattern of placement start dates. The sessions will be run via MSTeams and a full list of dates can be found below. The links will open 15 minutes before the start time at 3.45pm with training 4pm-5pm.

As part of our Ofsted compliance and Quality Assurance we require all mentors to be trained once per academic year regardless of any previous mentoring experience or training. Training for AY 22/23 covers all aspects of Professional Practice including the ITT curriculum, instructional coaching, the role of the mentor and Link Tutor, timetable/workload, paperwork, and the FoE mentor space.
